For months now I have been planning my sister’s bridal shower. During this entire wedding process my sister has been a bit of anti-bride and I have to bring her over to the lace and floral side so the whole bash actually ends up looking like a wedding. For her bridal shower she requested a unique event where she could just hang out with her friends and family and get excited about the big day. Yes, we would be showering her with gifts, but we really wanted to make the party more about a day where we could eat some good food, have some bubbly and enjoy the moment.
Now, the hunt for a different venue is never easy. All catering halls were out, which meant a search for restaurants. I found some good options in Manhattan, but the prices were crazy. I felt like I had to remind some that this was for a shower not the actually wedding.
After searching for weeks I found, The Love Shack in Brooklyn. The Love Shack is actually a private residence that belongs to Britta and Alexander Love a couple that left England in 2009 and built their dream here in Buswick, Brooklyn. They had a dream to try out their own take on loft living and build a home that could also function as a commercial space for events.
It was love at first sight for both of the mom’s and my fellow co-maid of honor when went to see it in person. We wanted the party to be completely girly and quickly a theme of bubbly, brunch, bride, and baubles came to be.
My amazing friend, Liz from Elizabeth Kristin Photography was there to capture the shower and I have pictures to share!
Upon passing the gated exterior you were met with a cute patio area that many of the guests enjoyed during the party.
Amazing love balloon in rose gold was the perfect decoration for this venue.
The space is meant to look like a dollhouse and it does not disappoint. Is that wall of mirrors stunning?
A peek of one of the lofted bedrooms. Below is the library where there is also a hidden bed that slides out. We made this our little bar area.
Let’s face it most people toss whatever party favor they receive. We didn’t want that to happen with our party. Since we were going with a bubbly, brunch, bridal and baubles them we made up a bauble bar so that guests could select their own party favor. Everyone left with a new necklace and matching pair of earrings. This was a huge hit!
Since we didn’t have room for a seated meal we wanted to have all of the food out at once. Everything was selected to be easy to eat while possibly standing or eating in a tight nook and since the bride is a lover of sweets there were many dessert options throughout. Catering was done by Cooking with Claire and cupcakes were brought in by Sweethaus.
Florals were done by yours truly. I went with a hot pink theme and white accents. Peonies are in season so I was happy to make them the star of my arrangements.
Since the venue had a great ornate decor already there wasn’t much that needed to be done. We added in the LOVE balloons, floral arrangements and zhushed up the balcony with some tassel garland and a CELEBRATE banner.
Custom champagne flutes were a nice touch to our bar area. SIP SIP HOORAY to toast the bride!
Our lady of the hour in a perfect sequined pant suit! We were out shopping together we found it and I told her it was a must have! I knew it would work perfectly for the shower.
One of the lofted bedroom spaces was the perfect area to hang out with friends and chat or have an impronto photo session.
The best part about this venue is all of the details. There were just so many little nooks to discover and enjoy.
Are you loving it as much as we did? My sister wanted to move it!

VENUE THE LOVE SHACK IN BUSWICK, BROOKLYN
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
