This was a hectic weekend and while I wish I could share all of the little details I can’t because so much of my weekend was spent finalizing wedding details with my sister and family. We need to have some surprise details for guests, but don’t worry I will share all of the details after the big day!
Here is what we were up to. I was out the door at 9:30 am on Saturday and didn’t return till 11pm. It was one wedding project after another and we made so much progress!
We started out at the bridal salon for another fitting. Don’t you love this floral arrangement they had? Ah! I love peony season.
For this fitting we got to use their Vera Wang collection area and it was stunning! Beautiful dresses all lined up.
After the appointment we headed to do a return at Lord & Taylor and I stumbled upon the prettiest dress from Trina Turk. The stripes, the texture, the tassel trim. It was pretty much made for me. Trina Turk just has a direct line to my heart and sense of style.
This is another version of the dress and it’s equally pretty.
We took a little lunch break and ended up at my favorite spot, Diane’s Bakery. Everything is so amazing there. I honestly have never had a bad meal or dessert. It’s my favorite place on LI to take guests, friends, family, everyone!
The rest of the day was spent doing more top secret wedding items like finalizing designs on all of the paper goods, ordering decor items, and working on the dreaded seating chart!
On Sunday we started our day at a Melanoma Skin Cancer walk in honor of a dear friend. One of my SIL’s best friends sadly passed away last year after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma. She died 5 short days past her 28th birthday just 3 months after her diagnoses. I think of her daily when I put on my SPF.
The youngest Pavone decided he really wanted to walk so, we let him and slowed down the walk a bit, but no one seemed to mind.
I spied the cutest elephant statue during our walk. It was at a park near us, but I had never seen it before so cute.
We spent the afternoon with Jon’s family where Jon tried to teach Hudson checkers. I love this checker rug they played on. Nice big checkers and easy to clean up. Plus it would be nice to bring it on picnics or to the beach. So easy to transport.
We spent the rest of our weekend cleaning up the backyard! We are almost there! Now to decide if we go with our beige cushions or orange cushions what do you think?
Plus Jon started packing for our camping trip!!!! We are going to Lake George soon. Any camping tips? I’m more of a glamping sort of girl so I don’t know what to expect especially with the boys.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Thanks for the update! I love reading them.
As for camping- put all food into ziplock gallon baggies (for example, put your cheese sticks that have a plastic cover into a gallon bag) and bring a bunch of extra baggies. It keeps your food from ‘drowning’ in the cooler. nothing worse than wet cheese, watery orange slices, etc.
Oh! Great tip! I just picked up food today, but need to go pick up more zip lock baggies!
Baby wipes are good to bring for quick clean up- showers are harder to get done while camping. And yes to the ziploc, great idea.
