This post should actually be titled I survived camping and I actually liked it!!!! Shhh though we can’t tell Jon that he was actually right. He swore I would enjoy it, but I was just terrified. It was very outside of my comfort zone, but I loved it and look forward to making it a yearly tradition.
We were a big group with a grand total for 30 people on an island in Lake George. Our group included 14 kids and Hudson and Asher were in heaven. It was chaotic having so many kids there, but it was also part of the fun and it was always nice seeing other parents dealing with all of the same tantrums that occur with the 5 and under crowd. We all totally got it each other and everyone was helping with all of the kids.
I did a lot of snapchatting while camping. We didn’t have bathrooms, but AT&T actually had cell service on the island! Very funny. I got better service than I do in some parts of my house.
I did take photos as well so here is a peek of our camping trip:
We rented a boat from Snug Harbor Marina in Silver Bay and got our first view of the lake.
The boys enjoyed playing captain before we took off.
We had to head to the rangers station to check in:
We also stopped at another marina called, Huletts Landing and it had a cute market with lots of goodies that are locally crafted in the area like this yummy ice cream.
Most of time there was simply spent playing around the island and fishing and lots of eating! Everyone bought way too much food. We had also picked up a little inflatable boat with paddles and Jon and Asher had a lot of fun going around the island.
Hudson got over his fear of bugs and fell in love with a caterpillar I found.
The evenings would end with s’mores:
On Saturday night we set up an outdoor movie night with our DIY movie screen a projector and a movie on our ipad!
The dock on our island:
It was just so pretty! The sun was always shining and the water sparkled like crazy.
I didn’t take a ton of photos, because once we all arrived and set up camp the island was just full of our stuff! It looked like a tent city instead of a beautiful abandoned island, but regardless it was a lot of fun.
We all survived camping and here is a picture to prove we were all there!
On the way home we drove around a bit and Bolton’s Landing was a super cute town by the marina. We even went into actual Lake George Village and their main street area, but it wasn’t my favorite. It was very crowded and full of a lot of trinket shops, but parts of it still had bits of charm throughout and lots of activities I know the boys would have enjoyed. Perhaps time we will check it out a bit more.
I’m already planning my next trip to the area and I think I’m going to want to try out this new campground called, Adirondack Safari. This momma needs a little glamping. While I really did enjoy camping I must admit the amount of gear we had to pack, install, and then repack up was insane and took up a lot of time. My entire ride home was spent dreaming up a camping concierge business.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Wow, it looks so beautiful I haven’t been to Lake George since I was a little kid and I barely remembered it but your pictures are inspiring me to want to go back. Friends wanted to go glamping this summer so I may just go 🙂
