This past weekend was a fun one! I was really ready for a weekend without any major plans. I basically wanted to do nothing all weekend long! I didn’t get to do that exactly, but we had an amazing weekend and I’m feeling refreshed and ready to tackle Monday.
We were up on the early side and decided to jump on that and head out to the beach! We grabbed some bagels and coffee and hit the road.
It was a little overcast on Saturday, but I was purely excited for a reason to use my round beach towel.
We have a beach permit which means that we can drive on to the beach and it’s a game changer. It’s so nice to just load up the car and have everything right there.
The boys did a little fishing:
And Hudson was obsessed with having me bury him.
I made sure to get a little time to finish my book and enjoy my breakfast. Are tie dye bagels all the rage by you? Here in NY they have been really popular. It started out with just one bagel shop in NYC making them, but we have now found them in our neighborhood.
FYI the book was amazing! I’m not a big Emily Griffin person. I had read Something Borrowed but that was it until this book. Loved it!!!! I’m hoping it gets made into a movie!
That night we had a date night!
We met with some great friends to have a dinner out at Market Bistro one of my favorite places.
On Sunday we were up once again super early! Gotta love toddlers. We decided to go treasure hunting and we headed out to our local thrift store.
I spied some cool furniture pieces like this one:
I also spied this cool piece of textile artwork. I really liked all of the colors, but wasn’t sure about the actual design. I liked the left side better than the right and there was no way to cut it so I left it behind.
We then hit 4 garden centers trying to find some gardenia trees for our front stoop. We had to go to 4 different places until we finally found them at the place that was literally blocks away from us! Ah! We should have gone there first.
I loved this floral display at our last stop:
In all of garden center travels I did spy these adorable teal faux wicker outdoor chairs at Home Depot that would look great in any backyard.
We spent the rest of the day at home just enjoying the backyard. We set up a little pool for the boys and organized all of our outdoor cushions for our sectional.
I picked up another Emily Griffin to read:
Jon set up his vegetable garden:
The day seemed to last forever and it was amazing to spend most of it outside!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
So jel of your beach. How long is the drive? It looks deserted. Here in London UK our nearest beach is over an hour away, small and jammed on a good weekend – and the tide seems to usually be out by miles. Love the round towel and those teal chairs.
It’s about 30 mins away which isn’t too bad. We can drive onto certain sections of the beach so when we do that there really aren’t a lot of people near by which is nice. If we went the old fashioned way to the beach and parked the car and walked onto one of the fields it would have been super packed.
That’s a weekend to go down in the books! looked amazing.
Thanks, Sarah! It was a good one!
