My sister in law recently moved into a new apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It’s smaller than her last place, but the area is amazing and it has a small outside balcony. All New Yorker’s dream of an apartment with a bit of outdoor space while it’s not a backyard the balcony provides a dose of the outdoors with a great view and a fresh breeze. When she told me about it I knew she needed to get a bistro set to enjoy the space and have her morning coffee out there.
A bistro set is the perfect size for a balcony or a petite backyard and it would also be great for a small front porch area. Here is a round of my favorites:
No. 1 Agora 3 piece bistro set: Love the style of these chairs. I have something similar on my deck so perhaps I’m partial to them. Also love that they are metal and not painted. With my painted chairs I have gotten rust, but with all metal you will be in a much better situation.
No. 2 Meadow Decor bistro set: Ah! Isn’t the pink amazing? It’s also available in green, yellow and red and each color comes with a different design on the seat back. I love that the style is a bit old school, but the pop of color makes it very current.
No. 3 Sol Blue bistro set: This color blue makes me super happy. It also reminds me of something that would be at a chic cafe.
No. 4 Tarno bistro set: Love the mix of the wood and the metal and the $50 price point!!!! Enough said.
No. 5 Charleston bistro set: How adorable are those chairs? Love, love, love the kelly green seat cushions! They totally make it for me. Not a super fan of the table, but I would cover it with a navy and white striped tablecloth and call it a day!
No. 6 Follie bistro set: This is the set I ended up getting my SIL and I love it. I went with the navy version, which is no longer available, but this peacock blue is a beauty as well and currently on sale for $95. Love that both the table and chairs fold closed which makes for easy storage in the winter.
No. 7 Red bistro set: I will admit that I’m not a huge fan of red in design, but I do think it works perfectly in outdoor spaces. It always looks great with concrete, pavers, etc.
No. 8 Bamboo bistro set: I love a dose of bamboo. It always reminds me of Hollywood Regency or Palm Beach design and the fact that this set came in orange I was immediately sold! Also available in a rainbow of other colors.
Best part? All of them under $200!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
