Did you see Saturday’s post? We are aiming to revamp our laundry room by the end of July! We don’t have a huge budget it’s actually pretty tiny so it will be a lot of lipstick on a pig sort of updates. Haha. On Saturday morning we headed out to Home Depot to see what they had in stock.
They had a vast amount of vinyl tiles:
They also had a great faux marble tile. I have used this brand of tiles before and they are great. They are 12″ x 24″ so they cover a lot of ground and they are really affordable!
Take a peek at it close up! Loved all of the veining.
I’m not going to lie the rest of the day was spent doing a lot of nothing. I caught Hudson’s cold and I was feeling pretty rough. We did end up getting a couple of guests in the afternoon, which was nice. My sister and her new husband came over to hang out and have dinner with us. Jon’s parents and sister also popped over to say hello while bearing gifts! Isn’t this door mat adorable? It’s jute with a fuschia colored border and it works perfectly in my house.
On Sunday we headed out to Brooklyn to see Jon’s sister’s new apartment! It has 2 bedrooms and a cute living room and little outdoor space and massive windows all through out.
We got a tour of the whole building and I must say I think the boys were most impressed with the screening room. It was full of seating and these bed type floor mats. You can go in and play whatever you like and it’s already connected to Netflix’s, etc. I see a slumber party happening soon! The boys thought Aunt Jenn’s new house was amazing!
After our tour we headed out to wander around Williamsburg and enjoy brunch at Rider. The decor was so cute and I loved that each table got a banana on it. That pop of yellow looked so great.
I got a breakfast sandwich with home fries and it was delicious. Everyone’s meal was actually amazing. We will be back!
After brunch we continued our walk. Williamsburg is so colorful! Many of the buildings are painted and it looks amazing. Lots of great instagram backdrops.
The apartment is really close to the water, which is nice, because you have an incredible view from her balcony and a great breeze.
She is also dangerously close to Van Leeuwen, which is amazing artisan ice cream shop. I normally buy their ice cream at Whole Foods since there isn’t a shop near me. When I say the shop I had to go in and get a cone of mint chip. So good!
I was still feeling better crappy on Sunday so when returned home I spent the rest of the day on the sofa resting and watching Return to Amish. I couldn’t stop watching. There was a marathon going on and I just got hooked!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Hi-where did you find that jute rug? And is it non-skid? I have been on the hunt for one.
My in-laws picked up for me in Greenport, NY. It didn’t have any sort of label on it. Sorry!
