My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
So, here’s a question. Regarding the colorful wall. I have heard that having a single colorful accent wall is a current decor no-no. And blog trends seem to show that. But is the only alternative (if you want a bold wall color) to paint the entire room? what is your take on this? I really like color. Generally I add color other ways, like with pillows and curtains but sometimes a bold color sounds great.
Hi, hope you don’t mind a a reader and lover of Effortless Style weighing in on your question. Our 1940 house is small with an open staircase between the kitchen and family room. We painted the staircase wall charcoal gray and have white walls elsewhere. You can see the white kitchen cabinets with gray quartz countertops from the stairs. This is our “no-no” accent wall and everyone loves it. If my husband would agree, I would even wallpaper that one wall going up the staircase with some fabulous bold wallpaper. In a small home, I love accent walls for pop.
I know what you mean, mary beth, Thanks for your input.
Hi Sarah,
