The highlight of our weekend was heading out to Shelter Island. I have lived on Long Island for over 20 years now, but I have never been. Shelter Island is on the east end of Long Island and you can take a ferry over to it from Greenport or Sag Habor. We decided to take it from Greenport and we ventured out super early to make a 9am ferry!
You get to drive onto the ferry for a short 10 min trip to Shelter Island.
We checked the weather the night before we left and it seemed like it would be sunny skies the entire day. As you can see it was during our journey to the island, but then the heavens opened up and it poured for about two hours! I was literally on my weather app during the rain storm and it still showed sunny skies and no rain! We decided to stop at The Islander. Our food was amazing and they didn’t mind 4 very excited kids in their establishment. Win, win.
After breakfast the rain was minimal and we ventured off to Mashomack Preserve so, that the kids could run off the french toast they had. We ended up on a mile and half hike. Hiking is normally not my scene, but the kids loved finding all of the markers for the trail and the views were beautiful.
The kids were still going after the hike, which meant another activity! Luckily we found a mini gold course and all of the parents thought it would fun. Oh boy! We were so wrong!
Whales Tale is a super cute ice cream shop with a mini arcade inside and then a mini gold course outside.
We started out strong. Everyone was excited to play. The first hole went well. All the kids waited their turn and did a good job with the club. Then we slowly started to lose them. Hudson didn’t want to follow the rules, Asher played the game by kicking the ball not using the club. What can I say! He loves soccer. Then they started to figure out how to get into the water areas and tried to mount the decorative displays. Fun!
After golf we figured we could get the kids to nap, but again we were wrong! We drove to Ram’s Head island and on our way I saw a pretty beach and since the kids were still up we got out to play for a bit!
Of course I had to make a design related pit stop and once the kids all fell asleep we popped into Marika’s Antique. Marika’s is an amazing shop filled to the brim with vintage furniture! So many amazing finds and it was so cool to see the crazy amount of inventory they have!
So many treasures! I just wanted to poke around all of the tented areas and see what they had. I will return!
The guys even popped into the local brewery, Shelter Island Craft Brewery for a flight.
It was a long full day!!!!
Sunday I spent working on 3 different blog posts! If you follow me on snapchat: CamilaPavone then you saw how my day was spent. Lots of time trying to work while this went on outside my office.
Happy Monday!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
