I jot down notes to myself all of the time. To remember a website to look into or a book to pick up or an event to look into, etc. I know I could probably be saving all of this stuff online, but there is something about pen and paper that I love. I have numerous journals and notebooks that I fill up with information for blogging, interior design clients, my volunteer work, and my small business consulting clients. It’s a lot of info! Months and months ago I jotted down that I needed to look into Rising Tide Society and their Tuesdays Together local chapter meet ups.
Rising Tide Society’s mission statement is, “Community over Competition”. The life of an entrepreneur is not all sunshine and rainbows. Yes, it’s wonderful to be your own boss and make your own hours and have a say in everything, but it’s also super stressful and lonely. You typically don’t have a co-worker to bounce ideas off and google becomes your best friend as you try to figure out how to market yourself online, figure out your taxes and how you use snapchat! On Rising Tide Society’s website you will find a gold mine of information to help you on your way when you are on your own. They feature a variety of topics and have professionals in the field write blog posts full of amazing content.
Along with that they also host Tuesdays Together where local chapters host get togethers on the 2nd Tuesday of the month where everyone can meet and discuss that month’s topic. Rising Tide Society picks a different topic each month and even provides the chapters with a great pdf full of information on that month’s topic.
I’ve been meaning to attend a meeting for months now. To be honest I had actually forgotten about it. Then last month my friend, Liz invited be via facebook to join the local chapters facebook page and when the meeting showed up in my events this month I RSVP’d yes and headed out last night!
Guys, it was amazing. I’m so happy I went and totally bummed that I didn’t do it sooner. It was really valuable to get together with a group of ladies, the majority of the mom’s that understood what it was like to run a business. We shared stories, gave our expertise when we had it and offered suggestions to help others in their business journey!
I’m all about small businesses. Especially ones run by women. Girl power and all that! So, I love an opportunity to be someone’s cheerleader and help them with my ideas or any connections I may have in their field.
I will back every Tuesday from now on. I know these ladies will end up becoming life long friends. If you have yet to try out a meeting you must go! It’s for all sort of business owners. My meeting was a mix of stationary designers, event planner, graphic designers and an accountant!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
