Girl Changer

Thank you for writing this post! I cried today when I saw a woman’s name on the ballot for President. It was a monumental day and it gives me hope for all the little girls… and boys out there that women’s talents and attributes will be on par with men.

It is totally a monumental day and I have found myself getting teary as well. My dad loves Hillary and is her biggest fan so, we have always been educated on her and I’m excited for it to happen. Fingers crossed.

I love your blog and I really try and stay out of commenting on political posts. But a part of me wonders if you want Hillary to be president JUST because she’s a woman or because you actually like her as a candidate. Don’t get me wrong- I think a woman in the White House would be an amazing accomplishment. But there needs to be a way to see past her gender. I believe Obama initially got elected because people were so excited to have a black president. I’m not sure if people are looking past these factors and if the candidate is even capable of leading our country. Just my opinion. Thanks for the post.

      Hi Rae,

Totally appreciate your opinion. I was trying to keep the post a bit light today and not get into the issues, because all of the info is out there on both candidates already and I’m not trying to sway readers one way or another. I’m not voting with my vagina. I actually truly believe in a lot of the issues that Hillary stands for. I wrote many papers on her in college and even made her Woman of the Year for a Times magazine project I had in High School. I know all about her past, her education, her career and I feel that for me I’m making the right decision in voting for her. Also personally my parents were born in Colombia and my dad immigrated here when he was 18 for the American Dream. My mom followed him when she married later on. So, I feel pretty strongly about immigration even though my parents arrived with green cards and through the proper means. Anyway because of this a lot of things that Trump says really rubs me the wrong way.

      Thanks for the conversation.
      Camila

I felt SO proud to bring my 4yo daughter and 6yo son to the polls this morning! This is the first election in which I really educated myself – not just about the candidates, but about my state’s questions as well. I’ve never been so excited to vote, and it’s because I feel confident in my choices. You’re brave to put your beliefs out on your blog. #ImWithHer too.

  4. Donna says:

Excellent post Camila! Kudos to your bravery for posting on such a controversial subject, as well as your outstanding taste in presidential candidates : )

  5. Sara says:

Thanks for posting about Hillary. I am devastated that the country chose a racist, misogynistic bigot over a highly qualified person. The GOP will reap what they sow and I don’t think they will be celebrating when they see what they have ended up with.

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
