I had a fun filled weekend! My sisters were in town and we spent the weekend celebrating my Mom’s birthday!
We decided to try a new place new and I had my eyes set on Jedediah Hawkins Inn. Jedediah Hawkins Inn is in Jamesport, NY and it’s an old Victorian home that was built in 1863 by Captin Jedediah Hawkins. Today it is a run as a small inn with 5 guest rooms and a farm to table restaurant.
We arrived a bit early and enjoyed some time in the living room where the boys got cozy reading some books.
They have a greenhouse area where you can be seated and it was so pretty!
My delicious three cheese grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup:
Birthday cake for the birthday girl!
We picked a late lunch time, which was nice, because the dining area emptied out while we were there and it felt like we had a private room.
Afterwards we walked the grounds. The inn is located on 22 acres! There is an art gallery on the premise, gazebos, a bocci court.
The birthday girl and her main squeeze:
Ah! Brotherly love. Literally seconds after I took this they had tackled each other on the ground.
We tried to take a family photo and this is the best we could do! At least we are looking at the camera! Small victories!
We finished up at the bocci ball court. Where the boys where pretty excited to toss some balls around.
We finished up the evening at my house were we had the fire going and my Mom got to open her gifts and then do a little fashion show with the new outfits she got.
Sunday was a super long day! The boys didn’t really care that pushed the clocks back and got an extra hour of sleep! They were up bright and early! I was able to bake a banana bread, do laundry, change the linens on the beds, and do some e-decorating work and when I looked at the clock it was only 11am!
My chocolate chip banana bread is legendary! People love and rave about it. What to bake a loaf or two yourself? Here is the recipe.
I did get to enjoy a trip to the spa in the afternoon. It was a fun trip out with my sisters and my mom. The rest of the day was spent at home doing never ending laundry.
I must also share that my friend, Jackie from Sincerely Jackie just launched a new product called, The Everyday Mother.
The Everyday Mother is the perfect gift for a soon to be momma! It’s a journal that helps you keep track all of the baby essentials – feedings (breast, bottle, pumping, or all three), diaper changes, sleep patterns, and even reminders for mom (don’t forget to take care of yourself, mom!). Now I’m sure there is probably some app that does this for you, but I’m a bit old school and I love nothing more than my lists and pen and paper. This book is beautifully designed with a hard cover, foil-pressed cover with gold corner protectors making it durable enough to be tossed in a diaper bag regularly. The journal is 180 pages and should get you to around 6 months of babyhood. It’ currently available for pre-orders until 11/18! It’s only $19.95 and be a perfect gift from Santa this year.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Can you tell me where you purchased your fireplace screen from? Love it!
I get so many questions about this screen. I love it and it took me a while to find it! It was actually a find from Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market/Antique Show in CT. There is no manufacturer info on it so, I have no clue if it’s a vintage find or something newer.
