Guys, I wish I could tell you this was a super exciting weekend, but it totally wasn’t. I got a good amount of things done, but nothing really happened. Plus it’s been getting super dark by 5pm lately and I turn into a hermit. I literally don’t want to leave the house because it’s cold and dark outside and I just want to crawl into bed. Daylight savings is slowly killing me.
Here are some highlights of what we were up to!
I was up early on Saturday so I went out to Michaels to pick up some supplies for my Thanksgiving day tablescape! Loved these shibori style ribbons!
Then we all went to Life Time and I happily dropped off the boys at Kids Academy. I love Kids Academy, because the staff truly loves what they do. I walk in with the boys and they immediately say hi to them by name and give them high fives. There is no crying fit when I leave. The eagerly run in and get to work either coloring, playing a game or going into their inside maze. They are happy and I can leave guilt free and work out knowing they are in excellent hands.
I’m not going to lie after we drop off the kids Jon and I go sit in the cozy seating area right outside of the Kids Academy and have a moment to ourselves! I even drop them off sometimes during the week and bring my laptop to get some work done in this cozy nook.
Then Jon heads to do weights and I go to yoga! Namaste!
After the gym we headed off to see friends at Dave and Busters! Hudson had been begging to go for weeks now so, since it was chilly out and we needed an indoor activity we gave in!
It was a bit nutty. It’s super dark and noisy inside and you lose all track of time, but the kids had a blast and we got to see friends as well and have lunch. Win, win.
Then we hit 5pm and I changed into these new pjs.
Then I grabbed my throw and my favorite Kate Spade mug full of tea and finished reading A Man Named Ove. I really liked the book. It was a sweet book that had me crying at the last chapter.
On Sunday I woke up early and shot the Thankgiving day tablescape! Here is a peek at my dessert spread.
Then the boys had a birthday party to attend. Guys, how cute are they! Just two bros hanging out. They kill me. I love seeing them together. Hudson is so sweet with Asher and Asher is obsessed with Hudson.
Then the rest of my exciting day was spent cleaning up the shed and backyard! Had to say goodbye to a bunch of furniture finds that I just haven’t had time to refinish and are taking up space.
I had also happened to invite both sets of grandparents over so, that they could help eat all of the props from the Thanksgiving day photoshoot and they arrived right when we were cleaning up so we got lots of extra helpers! Haha!
I wrapped up the day with another book and this time and cup of hot chocolate!
Have you read Love Warrior? I don’t know what to think about it. Everyone has been obsessing about this book, but I didn’t fully get it. I liked parts of it and felt at happy at the end when it seemed like she was finally happy and at peace with her life, but then I was discussing it with my sister and she told me that when the book came out she also divorced her husband. So, then I was just a bit confused over what happened and the book felt a bit fake to me. Ugh. Maybe I’m just a harsh critic. Did you read it? Did you love it?

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
