We were in complete spring cleaning mode this weekend. Actually it started earlier in the week when our real estate agent told us she wanted to do an open house on Sunday. I try to keep the house and clean and clutter free, but with two small boys and a dog things get hectic! So, throughout the week we had started throwing out a lot of junk and on Saturday after an early morning viewing of Boss Baby, which the boys adored we headed home to continue the cleaning. Jon tackled the backyard and finished up inside, which meant getting my closet in shape! I didn’t want potential home owners thinking we didn’t have enough storage and an exploding closet would do just that.
The best part of cleaning was getting my home office back in order! It tends to become the catch all room for blog projects, the boys projects, stuff that needs to make it to the backyard, etc. So, it was nice to finally have a cleared up desk space:
My fabric library back in order:
I also fixed up my bulletin board, which was an easy DIY project that I’m obsessed with.
It was a lot of work getting the whole house perfect for the open house, but luckily we managed to finish it all on Saturday and I even had time finish watching my favorite show! I loved season 3 and I’m sad that I binge watched so quickly and now I’m all done!
On Sunday we got out of the house in the morning so that the open house could take place. The sun was out and the day was beautiful. We knew immediately what we wanted to do! We love to head to Diane’s Bakery Cafe. It’s been around since 1982 and it’s seriously one of my favorite places on L.I. We know everyone that works there and we try it and make it there every Sunday, but we haven’t gotten there in a while!
I ordered my favorite panini and side salads for lunch!
But the best part is the bakery part of the cafe!
We picked up our sweets and headed to the near by beach to sit by the water and eat our treats!
On our way home we tried attending an open house, but it was not meant to be. I wasn’t in love with the area, the side street to get to the house was super busy with lots of traffic. Then we arrived and there was a long line out the door with people waiting to get in. It was as if they were giving the house away for free. It was nuts! So, since we weren’t in love with the area we figured it wasn’t worth it to wait.
We headed back home and then I got to sneak out to check out a 40% off sale that was going on at Old Navy! I did a little dressing room diaries on instagram so if you head over there (username:camilapavone) then you will still see it!
I ended up picking up this mock neck swing dress, sleeveless shirt swing dress, cutwork swing top and smocked off the shoulder swing top. I guess I really like that swing style! So many cute finds!
Overall it was a fun weekend! Fingers crossed we get offers on our house this week!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I love the sleeveless shirt swing dress so much I bought it in two colors….
Good luck on the open house!
I was looking at the green too! I should have gotten it!
Good luck and I hope your open house showing went well 🙂
Thanks! So far we have had positive responses. Hopefully we get an offer soon.
