Happy Monday! Sorry for the short break on the blog! For those of you that follow me on social media you already know that my mac book decided to die on me after 6 years of service! We went away to Martha’s Vineyard from Wednesday-Friday and I had no lap top, which meant no posts! Currently on the hunt for a new laptop. What do you use? Any recommendations?
I will be back with more details on Martha’s Vineyard. Spoiler alert, I loved it and I’m obsessed! I need a summer home STAT… actually we need a real home STAT. We took a break from house hunting this weekend because we are just exhausted from it and have literally seen everything of interest in our price range and a little okay maybe 100k above our price range as well.
On Saturday we had a relaxing day at home. We were exhausted from the drive home from MV and it was a dreary rainy day. Perfect day for one to stay in bed a little longer than normal and catch up on Pretty Little Liars. Yes, I am a 16 year old girl on the inside. I can’t stop watching it. My sisters and brother in law came over to celebrate my birthday! We had a low key lunch and then I got to leave the boys behind and get a manicure/pedicure! Is there anything better?
I had a lovely time and spent my time in the drying area talking to a very entertaining 4 year old who told me all about her brother, her favorite songs, movies, etc. She gave me a big hug when I was leaving. It was so nice to get a little glimpse into what having a daughter would be like. I would love going out and getting my nails done with a mini me, but I doubt Hudson or Asher would be too excited about it.
I also got adorable presents!
Like this very appreciated watercolor artwork of my house. Cue the ugly cry!
Plus this amazing tote from Forestbound that I had been dying for!
The rest of the day was not very exciting. I had some time to go over samples that had arrived in my office. I’m working with Grace from The Stripe on her new apartment and we are currently obsessing over wallpaper for her bathroom. These arrived and they are beautiful, but not as bright as we were hoping. Back to the drawing board!
I also spent some time going thru all of my supplies to see what I already had for Asher’s upcoming birthday party! Luckily I was able to find tablecloths, cups, plates, napkins, balloons, etc!
I have also been picking up plastic reptiles during all of my trips to dollar stores. Asher requested a crocodile themed party so, we decided to go with it and booked a reptile guy to come with a crocodile, snakes, etc. So, I want to book little birthday hats on these dudes. Let’s see if it happens!
On Sunday I was treated to breakfast in bed and then kicked all of the men out of house to have a couple of hours of mommy time.
I also got a beautiful flower display from Jon and the boys:
Then I got dolled up to go to Jon’s parents house. My parents are still vacationing in Spain so, we didn’t get to celebrate with them.
My favorite Boden shoes always come in handy when I want a pop of color! They aren’t available anymore, but these are a similar shade and also Boden. These are not Boden, but look pretty identical.
I also took my new Victoria Beckham gingham twill shirt out for a spin! Thanks Melissa! It doesn’t seem to be available online anymore, but it looks like certain store still have stock.
I also got surprised with a birthday cake! Isn’t the cake topper super chic!
Ash and I have our birthdays a day apart. So, the outside of the cake with chic (Camila) and the inside was fun (Asher). They asked them to do the pinata cake so when we cut into the cake mini m&m’s came spilling out!
It was a fun end to the weekend! I’m also convinced I’m now part cake, because with all of those birthdays we have had a lot of it and donuts, croissants, apple fritters. If it’s a sugary carb I’ve had it. So, today should be fun, because I’m cutting out all sweets and only letting myself indulge on the weekends! Bring on the sugar withdrawal headaches!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
