Happy Monday, all! Another weekend were not a lot of house hunting got done. Typically many houses go on the market at the end of Spring and beginning of Summer, but I’m just not seeing that here in NY. I think there was way more on the market before we put our house up and now that we are in contract with our house and can purchase a new one the inventory is slim picking! We place bids only to find out hours later that we have been outbid by all cash offers or I see a listing pop up and email my realtor to get me in to see the house and it’s already gone in 24 hours. Fun times. So, due to all of that we literally had no new houses to see this weekend.
So, we decided to enjoy the time we have at our house and in our town. We were up super early and everyone was dressed and ready and having homemade pancakes by 9am! I decided to get a little fun and let the boys top their pancakes with sprinkles. Healthy? No, but I like doing little things like that that I hope they remember years from now and do with their own kids. I have this strong sometimes obsessive ambition to be remembered as a fun mom since I tend to have to discipline them quite a bit when they are being spirited. I don’t want to be remembered for time outs!
Of course we make the pancakes from scratch that’s right flour, baking powder, etc and put make them into Mickey Mouse and add the sprinkles, because Ash has been asking for pancakes all week and he turns around and tells us, ” I don’t want that. I want stick waffles”! Ah! Warms your heart, right?
Luckily Hudson enjoyed them and said they were delicious!
Then we decided to spend the day in town. We walked to the library and Hudson got his first library card. We read books, did puzzles and walked thru the gardens. Then we continued our walk and had lunch at a local mediterranean restaurant we had never eaten at. We had a yummy lunch, but I was more obsessed with the amazing hand painted mural in the place than anything else.
The day was still young when we were finished so we quickly walked home and packed up the car in what felt like seconds and headed to the beach!
We have a beach permit which allows us to drive onto the beach and it’s a game changer. Especially with kids. We don’t have to lug anything anywhere. Jon set up his fishing poles, the boys ran off with new best friends to play and I got to actually sit and read a magazine!
The boys one request for our beach outing was that they wanted to catch a baby shark! I thought that was going to be an impossible feat, but Jon caught many baby sharks during the day.
We ended the day in bed snuggling up together watching Bobs Burgers. It’s a cartoon the whole family can get behind.
Sunday morning we were yet again up and ready super early so, we headed to Target while it was quiet.
I thought it was going to be a smooth and blissful trip and here is a little peek at what it was really like:
Not enjoyable. I had to move really quickly throughout the store. Did manage to sneak one picture of my latest obsession.
Isn’t that pink and navy floor pouf the best? Then a walked a little further and found the adorable stripe and tassel throw! Obsessed!
P.S. How adorable are my new sandals! Luckily for me I’m the same shoe size as one of my clients and she didn’t like having the ties on ankles so, I got them! Thanks, Magda!
Loving my adorable pom pom tassel sandals and striped swing dress combo.
I also popped into Big Lots and found these adorable wooden lanterns. They are not available online, but still in stores. They are massive and come with an electric candle for only $40.
We ended our day out east were we got to visit with the newest member of the Pavone family.
We were all excited to meet her, but Asher was the most eager. He kept asking if he could hold her. The poor kid has to wait till she is a bigger, but he loved peeking at her while she slept.
Happy Monday!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
You need your realtor to work harder finding listings before they hit the MLS. He or she should be networking with other realtors to find them. By the time they are on Zillow or another app like that, it’s too late.
Ugh I know! I totally agree, but that hasn’t been my experience with realtors on Long Island. They literally do nothing. I just get to email with a million houses I want to get into and they will schedule and get in, but very rarely do they actually come to me with a house.
Sounds like you had a terrific weekend!
