Thursdays are normally my treat yo self posts and that’s what I started out researching when I found this stunning piece of artwork and I then I just went down the rabbit hole sourcing different items for a style plan for a colorful teen bedroom. I deal with clients and budgets all day long so, it was nice to have a make believe client for this round up and get to pick exactly what I wanted. I would happily have this space in my home.
No. 1 Is this not the most amazing piece of artwork? I’m obsessed with the way the paint is applied and the colors palette. I could look at it all day long. Love an amazing piece of original artwork that you can treasure for forever.
No. 2 Designer tip: I don’t always use dressers in kid/teen rooms. Sometimes the scale and shape of a credenza/server fits better in the design plan. You will probably not have shelves that pull out inside like a drawer so I simply pick up storage bins and place them inside. The majority of kid/teen clothes fits nicely into them. Isn’t this pink credenza stunning?
No. 3 Stray Dog Designs is always one of my go to places when I’m working with a child/teen room. They have such beautiful whimsical pieces like this chandelier/flush mount combo that is currently on sale!!!
No. 4 Is this not the best yellow for the space? I was amazed when I found this headboard and it could just be ordered and not custom made!
No. 5 I try and keep things simple when it comes to bedding in kid/teen spaces. They are just like my husband and not a fan of excessive pillows on the bed. Isn’t this stripy tasseled pillow just darling?
No. 6 I’m normally a fan of all white bedding, but again with kid/teen spaces it’s not always ideal. Any little mark always shows up. This dove gray duvet from Crane & Canopy is a bit more forgiving, yet it’s still crisp and clean looking.
No. 7 Kate Spade makes lighting, which is of course stunning and drool worthy and I want all of it! Especially their beautiful Elsie lamp that is available in a classic white, but isn’t amazing in this hue?
No. 8 I like to keep the top of my nightstands clear of clutter so, it’s always nice to have a nightstand with drawers to hide all of your little knick knacks. Love the subtle fretwork trim on this nightstand.
No. 9 I love a good bench at the end of a bed. On a queen/king bed I will even go so far as to recommend a settee/loveseat. For a twin bed something like a single x-bench is typically what I love to recommend, but in this case I’m really enjoying this faux bamboo ottoman.
No. 10 Just like the artwork this rug stopped me in my tracks! The colors work perfectly in this space and it’s such a great price point! Snag it while you can!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
