It looks like the warm weather is finally here to stay! Our forecast is calling for days in the 80’s and I’m super excited! One of my favorite parts of my home is the massive backyard. It’s so nice to have the boys play set and trampoline in one area and then have a dedicated deck with enough space for a dining area and an outdoor living room. I haven’t really changed it since the reveal a couple of years ago, but when Katrina from Chic Little House asked me to be a part of her Summer in Style Outdoor Edition blog hop I knew I wanted to switch things up a little bit and show my take on colorful outdoor living!
I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go in, but after spotting this placemat I had my jumping off point. My sectional already had orange cushions, that could stay the same and my beautiful DIY striped coffee table had the same amazing bold blue. Now I just needed some accessories to finish up the new look!
It was pretty easy to shop my mind find a mix of pillows that would work with inspiration placement. I loved seeing how a couple little switches could give me such a new look.
I love a good lemonade on a hot summer day and I wanted to share a fun addition I do to mine when I’m entertaining. Take any store bought lemonade. I’m a big fans of the ones available at Trader Joes. Then take fruit and cut it up into teeny pieces. Pour your lemonade into your mason jar and then add a mix of fruit into the mix. Make sure you have large straws so that you can get delightful fruit pieces as you sip. It is amazing! If I’m feeling extra fun you can add some champagne or bubbly seltzer to your lemonade.
Moving onto the dining area of our deck I set up a drink station on the diy outdoor bar we made a couple of years ago that is still going strong!
Are you loving my DIY fresh pineapple vase? Such an easy and delicious DIY!
When you find drinks that coordinate with your set up you must pick them up! How adorable are they!
The dining area got a little love with a area rug!
How can you say no to palm leaves? You can’t!
I had fallen out of love with hydrangeas until I got sucked back in when I saw them in these amazing colors. The blue was so bold and the green had a lime color look, which I knew would work perfectly in the space. They are still going strong days later and I’m back in love with hydrangeas.
I hope you enjoyed the new look!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
