Due to this blog of mine I was able to meet one of my closest friends, Melissa. A couple of years ago she stopped at a parenting center where I was taking a class with Hudson. I was surprised that someone recognized me from the blog. I think she actually recognized Hudson first! We grabbed a cup of coffee and have been friends ever since. We are total design sisters. We both have really similar styles and design love, but she pushes me out of my comfort zone and I do the same with her. I have slowly okay quickly taking over designing rooms in her house. A little zhushing here and there. She had amazing home and style to start with, so it’s all come out so great! Can’t wait to share it all with you. I’m going to have to convince her to let me do a photo shoot. In the time we have been friends she actually became pregnant with another girl, little baby Clio! I even designed her nursery! This past Saturday she celebrated her first birthday with a flamingo bash! Melissa has been planning it for months and I have of course been helping her along the way. We have bought flamingos and pineapples from all over Long Island.
Welcome to the Flamingo Bash! A custom birthday sign to let the party guests know where to go!
The front door area was dressed up with a
monogrammed wooden flamingo sign.
I think we cleared out all of Long Island from lawn flamingos. They had to get party ready with individual party hats. So cute! They were sprinkled all over the front and back yard. I think she has enough to flock a neighbors front yard.
There was also a cute glam area with
pineapple tattoos, pineapple party hats, and floral crowns.
I didn’t need a floral crown, because I came with my own head piece! I’m kinda obsessed with my turban/head wrap piece.
I took honeycomb pineapples and “planted” them in the window boxes. Loved how cute they looked.
Let’s face it the kids didn’t stop playing long enough to actually sit and enjoy this darling set up, but I loved the cute pink chairs and coloring book paper table runner.
The tent area had hanging paper lanterns, honeycomb pineapples and a flamingo pinata that took center stage.
Chic tables under the tent.
Pineapple centerpieces complete with flamingo sunglasses and floral accents filled the tables.
Melissa loves vintage pieces just as much as me. It’s something we love to bond over. This vintage sink didn’t end up fitting inside your home so, outside it went and became a bar/drink station for the party. Pink lemonade, ice and flamingo straws filled the sink. More pinata’s and honeycomb balls made up the garland.
A honeycomb pineapple made for a perfect O in spelling out Clio’s name.
I seriously went nutty buying pinatas. I found then at Five Below for $5 so I just had to grab them. No need to fill them with anything. We just used them as decor!
A perfect photo op area for the birthday girl!
Melissa loves a theme. She ended up finding this inflatable ostrich costume and since it was pink like a flamingo it was purchased! I’m certain her hubby Frank, was ecstatic about it.
The hostess with the mostess! Statement earrings and a vintage frock that worked perfectly in theme!
Stylish party favors. Ready made rice krispy treats that got some customization with chocolate and colorful sprinkles that included pineapple and flamingo sprinkles!
It goes without saying that we had a fabulous time. I barely saw the boys, because they were in their element. A party with friends their age! Perfection.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Dying!!! It looks even better in your pictures than it did in person.
Wonderful details of a great party. Melissa is a hostess with the mostest and coupled wirh Camilla, what could possibly go wrong —- nothing!!
