Ah! This was the longest and shortest weekend. Longest because I feel like I ended up doing so much, but shortest, because the hours just kept flying. Before I knew it hours would have passed in the blink of an eye, but at least I got a lot accomplished. We had a photoshoot here on Sunday and all week was prep work. You know finishing that gallery wall I started years ago. Whoops! Or finally putting a lampshade on a lamp in the boys room that had been on display sans lampshade for years! It’s all of those little projects that require trips out to stores and some prep work at home to get it all finished. On Saturday I thought I was in good shape, but I still had lots to do like making floral arrangements for different rooms and lots of ironing! All of the duvets and shams needed to be nice and crisp!
I don’t want to share any pictures and spoil the big reveal, but I think you will all enjoy it! It was a bit bittersweet since we are moving in September, but it will be nice to have pretty documentation of the house I (In partnership with Jon) put my blood, sweat and lots of tears into.
So, instead of teaser photos I’m going to shout out the amazing photographer I got to work with!
Erin Kestenbaum is an amazing photographer especially when it comes to interiors. She is based out of Connecticut and I lucky enough to have her come to Long Island to shoot my house. I already knew her work was stunning and I was really excited to finally get to meet her. She arrived early Sunday morning and got my bombarded by the boys who think anyone that enters our house is naturally there to see them. She was so great with them and totally a delight. I knew the day was going to so swimmingly and it totally did. We had no hiccups! The weather and technology collaborated and we got all of our shots! I’m in a bunch of them as well and I’m hoping I was able to get that fake smile off of my face. It’s so hard to smile naturally when someone prompts you too. Fingers crossed!
Since my weekend revolved around the photoshoot and I don’t want to ruin the big reveal I thought I would share photos of Erin’s stunning home instead.
Her hallway with the perfectly blue front door. Do you see that amazing gloss on it?
Entry way vingette with a faux bamboo high gloss black dreser.
Chic seating area complete with a large brass elephant. What can I say? We both have a love on elephants. That totally equals instant friendship in my book.
Her fabulous dining room with her amazing David Hicks Fiorentina fabric.
Her recently completed guest room is swoon worthy. Not only did she pick out an amazing paint color, but she added all of that picture frame moulding. You can see all of the before and after photos here.
I also love her outdoor patio space. Don’t twinkle lights make everything better? Erin and her husband actually made the dining table as well!
I can’t wait to see what she tackles next! You can follow her adventures on her blog and on instagram!
Can’t wait to tell work on something else together!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
