We all have that friend whose house is perfection and your go-to source when you are trying to figure out what paint color to use or fabric to recover your chair in. Shopping for them can be a bit difficult, because you want to get them something stylish that they would love, but they are the person you normally go to for that type of gift recommendation. Since I am that person in my circle I put together a gift guide for the decorator in your life!
No. 1 I think a throw is always a great gift idea. Except for when it comes to your decorator friend a plain beige throw won’t do. Go bold like this Kate Spade orange and pink throw. Something fun and unexpected.
No. 2 A faux fur striped pillow is just what any stylish house needs. It’s a bit out there, but your decorator friend will totally get it and love it.
No. 3 Your decorator friend is probably someone that loves to have fresh flowers in their home on a weekly basis. A chic vase will get used quite a bit instead of just hiding out in a cabinet. No need for plain glass go for a fun ceramic pattern one.
No. 4 This African basket is handmade and multi-purpose. It can be used as a catch all on a console table/coffee table or hung up on a wall as artwork.
No. 5 I love a cheeky mug and this one would be perfect for my daily cup of English breakfast tea with honey.
No. 6 Stylish statement earrings are a must have. I’m loving the blush tone on these and all of the tassels. I’m a more is more kinda gal when it comes to tassels.
No. 7 This potted boxwood is only $20 and perfect to style one’s home with. A trio would look adorable on a mantle and one would be great to sprinkle into a bookcase.
No. 8 I love giving ornaments as gifts for the person that has everything. I think it’s nice to find something fun that reminds you of them. Who wouldn’t love a bottle of champagne as an ornament?
No. 9 Shelter magazines would feel right at home in this sequin basket. It would also be a cute place to stash kids toys in a living room or office space. I like to scatter hidden toy baskets in more grown up spaces so that my littles can always find something to play with.
No. 10 I love snail mail especially personalized note cards with an interior design flair on them.
No. 11 If sequins aren’t your thing this tassel covered wicker basket is a great alternative. It’s also a super easy DIY project. Thrift stores are always full of baskets and you have your pick of colorful yarn at any craft store.
No. 12 I will take a bar of soap any day if they looks like these beautiful gem soaps. What a fun gift and less than $20!
No. 13 Lacquer and wood are having quite a moment in the interior design world. A dresser or table with these combo would be a budget breaker, but this stylish tray gives you a touch of the trend for $40!
No. 14 This elephant bottle opener is the perfect addition to any bar cart or instagram pic! Such a cute styling accessory.
No. 15 If you love decorating then you probably love entertaining as well. This new book by Courtney Whitmore from Pizzazzerie blog. She designs the most beautiful events and I know I’m personally hoping it’s under my Christmas tree.
Whew! Such a good gift guide if I say so myself!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
