Haven’t done one of these posts since all of the holiday madness so, it’s nice to be back to my normal routine! We actually ventured out in the cold this weekend and here is what we were up to!
Saturday morning the boys got up nice and early! There is no sleeping in ever with kids! 6 something in the morning and they are ready to go!
This momma is so not ready to go, so we always go down to the play room aka my parents family room and they play while I try and wake up with a cup of tea and this morning I actually got to flip thru a magazine! Bliss! Even more bliss? The cozy soft cardigan. It’s so amazing during these frigid temps we have been having here in NY.
We then got ready and hit the road to Home Depot to take part in a kids craft activity. I thought everyone knew about this, but I got a bunch of questions on instagram so, I figured I would share here as well. This first Saturday of every month Home Depot hosts a kids craft. It’s at every location and you are able to sign up for them via their facebook page and they are totally FREE. There have been months were I forget to sign up before hand and they still let you do the craft. You get a little Home Depot apron and a pin for each project.
*Guys, I now feel like Spielberg, because I was able to edit this on imovie and add music. Stay tuned for more upcoming videos!*
This month the craft was a block calendar, which I really loved! Asher enjoyed building his, but didn’t want to paint it so, I got to paint it! Isn’t it cute?
We then ran a bunch of errands with the boys including a trip to Target, which is always interesting with Asher. He has this amazing eye with shopping. He goes around throwing a million things into the cart. Not only what he would like, but he thinks about what other family members would like. It’s so funny. He also loves clothing and accessories so he also puts on many things while we walk around. Haha.
We also did some coloring when we got home! Coloring is one of those activities that I always want to do, but the older Hudson and Asher get the less they are interested in. That is until I made it a game. So, instead of just coloring in a coloring book what we do is use blank pages and pick a category like our favorite sea creature or favorite Minecraft character (Hudson’s pick) and we each draw and then Hudson judges declares 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. It kept them entertained for quite a while and I got to use crayons! Ah is there anything better than a fresh box of crayons!
At home I also realized some fun mail had arrived like this adorable card and coasters from my pal, Kate of Domestikated Life. I heart Kate! We meet via our blogs many years ago and I really enjoy her style and her personally. She is just the sweetest. If you enjoy a colorful happy home and amazing recipes and entertaining tips then she is your gal! She has so many exciting things in store for 2018! I can’t wait for her to share it all!
I also treated myself to these confetti earrings by Moon & Lola when they were having an after Christmas sale. They are hand crafted so each pair is different and they finally arrived and I’m so excited to take them for a spin!
On Sunday it took Jon wishing me a Happy Anniversary for me to remember that it was our 12th wedding anniversary! Whoops! Ah! It feels like a million years ago and yesterday at the same time.
We actually had a family celebration planned for Sunday, but it wasn’t an anniversary celebration, but a birthday celebration for my Dad. Target’s dollar spot for the win with their fun Party Time and tassel garland!
Complete with Trader Joe flowers! Ranunculus are back in season!
I even used the flowers to dress up a cake I picked up from Carlo’s Bakery.
Best highlight of the get together? Playing Loteria, which is basically Mexican bingo. We use to play a lot when we were little and this Christmas my sister picked up a set and we have been playing it whenever we get together. Even Hudson and Asher got into the action when they saw they could win money! Haha. Each game had a $1 buy in and I even won one of the rounds!
That’s all she wrote!
Happy Monday!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Love your blog. Thank you for sharing!
Fun weekend and I love that bingo game! I love when simple games (and coloring) bring people together.
The bingo game got really spirited! Everyone wanted to win the $10 pot! Haha
