This past weekend I had my birthday! Yay! I typically hate birthdays, because there are all these massive expectations for the day and I really hate having attention on me. So, it’s a double edged sword. I want to be surprised and have it something amazing, but I also don’t want all of the attention and pressure to be super excited about what I was gifted. Ah! I know these are silly problems to have. This year I decided to take a little me time and spent the day having a massage in the morning then tea and thrifting with Jon, a mani/pedi and then dinner with my family. It was lovely! I saw my sisters over the weekend and they always spoil me. My main gift from them and my brother in law was a custom neon sign for my studio! I have always wanted one, but I had never pulled the trigger! So, now I need to decide what saying to put on the neon sign! Ah! Decisions are the worst!
Originally I always thought I wanted it to be, Treat Yo’ Self. I love the saying and feature weekly items I would love to treat my self too on the blog. I also love that it’s from Park & Rec’s.
We came up with a couple more sayings:
All the things: I think it’s a cute saying and tend to say it a lot. Don’t we all want, All the things, especially when it comes to pretty home decor items.
More is more: I will never be a minimalist. Too many things bring me way too much joy. I also like the attitude that you should have more is more in your decor style, but also in your life. Allow yourself to indulge.
Make Today Lovely: Just a positive affirmation to remind me to pause and make today lovely and also works design wise because you should take time to decorate your home and make all of your days lovely.
Treat Yo Self: Still a contender for the reasons above. I think it would look cute above the kitchenette, but also look cute over the fabric library.
I love the idea of a sign with the word, Color, in it, but Live Colorfully is a Kate Spade saying and More color, please isCarrie Colbert’s saying. I’m at a loss with something fun with the word color.
I recently though of, Be bold. Be colorful. I’m liking it, but I think I need a new Be _______.
Anyway, long enough story, but I need help! Leave a comment or email me, message me on social media and give me your suggestions! I’m stumped!
I think Make Today Lovely is a message to you, who will see it more than anyone else. Turning it on each time will remind you that that is your goal, and will begin your day at work with a “lovely” purpose.
Happy Birthday!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
When I think of you and this blog, it’s got to be Treat Yo’ Self. Great gift to get, enjoy it!
