This weekend the forecast called for rain, rain and you guessed it, rain! We spent a leisurily Saturday morning around the house just relaxing, but when the clock hit noon I decided we had to do something with the day! There are only so many weekends this summer and we need to take advantage. With cute outfits on and umbrellas in hand we head into Brooklyn!
I went bold with a little stripe on stripe action! I was pretty obsessed with my new striped shirt. Super comfy, can be dressed up or down and only $12.99! I got it in two colors!
Jon’s sister just moved into a new apartment, which we wanted to check out and we were delighted to learn that Smorgasburg! Smorgasburg is a food market where there are typically a 100 vendors for you to choose from! Yes, there was rain not every vendor was there, but it was still fun to go to.
The rain was coming and going so, we had a chance to get food and even eat outside by the water. When we walked in I immediately saw Thai Bird and that they had fried chicken with pineapple! Two things I love! Let me tell you it did not disappoint. So yummy!
For dessert there was a lot of options, but again I knew immediately what I wanted! Hello churros ice cream sandwich by Dulcinea!
After our lunch and checking out Aunt Jenn’s swanky apartment we headed across the bridge into the city to check out Pier 17 at the Seaport. There was a massive balloon display by Geronimo! I have always wanted to see one in person and it did not disappoint.
After we enjoyed the balloon display and watched the boats go by in the water we ventured off to Battery Park to ride the Sea Glass Carousel. I had been once before with the boys, but they were little and I didn’t think they remembered it. Plus Jon never got to enjoy it. It’s truly magical! I’m dying to go to it at night.
Even though we had a late start to the day we jam packed the afternoon with activities and everyone had a blast!
On Sunday we were again met with rain and this time with the exhaustion of Hudson having night terrors during the night and up every hour or so we decided to again take it easy at home. Everyone was enjoying their downtime, but I figured eventually the boys would need to run off their energy. So, Jon checked the weather and saw that there was no rain in the forecast at the beach! We got ready quickly and headed out right when the down pour started at home. It poured the majority of the way to the beach, but the forecast was right. A couple of minutes before we hit the beach the skies opened up and the sun was shining. It was a perfect beach day!
We ended up staying all day! Another family drove on next to us and had kids, which made my boys super happy. I swear they were best friends in a matter of seconds.
It was truly a lovely day the beach. The kids played in and out of the water for hours, no fights, Jon tried to fish, but nothing was bitting and I got to finish Ghosted and started The Intermission. Ghosted took me a while to get into, but I ended up liking it in the end. The Intermission on the other hand sucked me in right away and I can’t put it down.
All in all a wonderful weekend!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
