I’m constantly picking up art project supplies for the boys. I get all excited and figure out a project and pick up the plans and then Hudson will normally humor me and do some version of it, but Asher will leave me and just ask me to do it for him. Hence the adorable painted elephants everyone loved on instagram. I was going over our craft supplies and saw we still had the terra cotta pots I picked over the summer. I was on instagram like one always is and found the work of artist, Marianne Angeli Rodriguez and her beautiful peace planters. I loved the variety of colors on each pot and then the face overlay and decided to give it a shout myself!
Step 1: Pick around 4 colors and get to painting. This can be whatever you like, but I just started painting shapes like circles and ovals and then gave them borders and then painted the empty space an additional color. Now once that dries you can just glaze it and be done.
I used this one as a make up holder on my vanity. In went my make up brushes, mascaras and eye lines. Super cute and easy!
Step 2: If you want a face on the vase then paint your abstract shapes in your four colors. Let that dry. Once it’s dry take your paint pen and draw in your face. Here you can really do whatever you like. I found this face on a piece of jewelry and it seemed easy to tackle so I just went to town and replicated it. Once that’s dry then you use the triple glaze for that nice high gloss finish.
For this cute lady pot I decided to give her some hair and add a small mum plant.
Isn’t she cute? I gifted her to my sister for her birthday. I think it’s super cheerful and happy and I love her mum hair!
Mums are everywhere this fall. I think they would even look cute super sized and put on your front stoop. Super easy. You get to go as colorful and ornate as you like. It was a fast project, easy clean up and great therapy. For me there is nothing better than grabbing a paint brush and just zoning out.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Love,love,love… so pretty! So Picasso-esque!
Why, thank you!
