Another weekend has come and gone!
Saturday morning Hudson was off with Jon to a birthday day, which left me and Asher with a little free time on our hands. So, I dragged the little guy with me to an open house. I saw this house online and it reminded me of our old house, which immediately made me feel excited. My sisters were home for the day so, I arrived to the open house with a whole posse. We all immediately loved it and Asher felt right at home.
I saw it and immediately envisioned a fence out front, shutters on the windows, a bold paint color on the front door, etc!
Asher made himself right at home next to the fireplace, which was one of must haves!
I called Jon and frantically told him to hurry up from the birthday party and head over to see it! He made it in time before the open house ended and let’s just say he burst my bubble. While I was already picking out paint colors and planning to bump out the back of the house to enlarge the tiny dining room and even teenier kitchen he saw all of the problems. The floors were wonky, the expansion would eat up all of our money, it was essentially smaller than our old house even though it had an extra bedroom, and it would always be on a pretty main road. He would rather pay more and get a better location. I was crushed, because like I mentioned above I was already moved in. The house hunt is a rollercoaster of emotions. After he explained everything to me and I was done seeing red I was able to see where he was coming from and we both agreed it just wasn’t the house. Back to the drawing boards!
After the open house we ended up back home where I took out my paints once again and painted some pumpkins and go to work on painting some more little elephants that I shared on instagram a couple of weeks ago. People requested to buy them as ornaments so I’m working on that. Stay tuned!
On Sunday we were up bright and early! Thank you Daylight Savings! Since we had many hours to fill we started out the day at Old Navy and I picked up a couple of pieces like this red buffalo check shirt. I undid the bottom two buttons and made a knot and loved it even more!
This dress is in the prettiest floral pattern. It’s available in a lot of different options, but this version worked the best on my body. Loved it!
I also picked up this cozy sweater that you could wear by itself or over the dress for a different look.
Loved this tartan shirt swing dress. It made me think of Christmas and who doesn’t like that! I added my own vest and really liked the combo.
Last was a new pair of Stevie pants, which I really love. I already have two pairs of the suede version in navy and camel and I always get compliments on them.
Since everyone put up with me at Old Navy we decided to do something fun for the rest of the day and went to a near by preserve to walk around and do a little fishing.
There wasn’t much fishing action going on but Hudson and Asher were each able to catch one. Don’t worry we catch and release so those little fishes went back to their home.
The day ended with a trip to get our favorite apple cider, apples and of course apple cider donuts!
Happy Monday!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
