Truth be told I have been watching Hallmark Christmas movies since November. It was a great way to jump start the season and get me in the mood for Christmas. For years now one of my favorite parts of the holidays have been horribly amazing Christmas movies and I have tried all of the networks out, but my favorites always go back to Hallmark. Is there always a happy ending? Predictable plot? A snow ball fight? A water main break? An older man that looks like Santa and is named Nick and gives out unsolicited advice to the town? Yes, to all of them! But that’s what makes them so comforting to me. I know I’m not the only one with a fascination so, I thought it would be fun to share what I consider the best Hallmark Christmas movies and my favorite way to watch them!
Before you start watching your favorite Hallmark Christmas movie you need to set the scene! I love to get into bed no matter how early for the best viewing position! This year I went a little nuts with holiday decor and really wanted to give our house that Hallmark Christmas movie vibe and decorated the main living areas and bedrooms! I used my DIY Bowti-ful wreath from last year and some pretty garland for the head of the bed frame. Then I swapped out my bedding and went with classic white and black bedding with a twist from Crane & Canopy! I went with the Harper duvet, which has a beautiful white background with black polka dots in an organic arrangement. My favorite part has to be the black piping all around it. My mom literally gasped when she saw it and wanted it for her bed. I mixed things up with euro shams in their Linden collection. I love to mix and match and at Crane and Canopy I can buy everything separately all the way down to the flat sheet. It’s amazing!
Then for my accent pillows I went with a bright kelly green pillows and for an additional pop of color, an orange lumbar pillow! Guess what? I don’t actually have an orange lumbar pillow so, I took my pashmina and wrapped it around to look almost like a bow. Perfect for Christmas and a perfect trick for an extra pillow without any sewing skills!
After you set the scene you must dress the part! Bring on Christmas plaid and red and white everything!
Hot Cocoa is also a must! Yes, I have a ton of mugs and I really don’t need another one, but when I saw this one at HomeGoods I had to grab it. It was the perfect mug for cocoa and movies! It’s nice and roomy and fits lots of marshmallows!
The best part of getting to watch the movies to snuggle up with my little visitors. They don’t stick around for too long, but I will take any snuggles I can get.
Last but not least! Once you have the lights out in the room for ideal movie theater viewing atmosphere turn on your pretty garland lights! You will fit right in with whatever movie you watch!
This current season I have loved:
–Road to Christmas: A road trip to VT while picking up a family members as a surprise for a live TV show tapings host.
–Christmas at Graceland: A single mom goes back to her hometown for a business deal and falls back in love with home and a guy. Lots of singing and dreamy views of Graceland.
–Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa : Last year we were introduced to the residents of Evergreen and this year we follow along another story. Loved peeks of towns people from the first movie. The movie is all about bringing the town’s festival back to all it’s glory which is inspired by an old letter to Santa.
–A Majestic Christmas : I didn’t think I was going to like this one, but I loved it! An architect goes back to her hometown to work on the Majestic Playhouse. The new owner is going to transform it into arcade/movie theatre and the town is not happy. She not only finds love with the new owner, but a new passion for her work as well.
–A Shoe Addicts Christmas: An HR manager from a department store starts getting visited by her guardian angel played by Jean Smart! Every time she meets up with her angel and is giving a pair of shoes to try on she gets transported back in time or to the future to see what her life would have been like if she followed her passion.
In the past my favorites have been:
–A Rose for Christmas Rachel an artist has to take charge of creating a float for the Rose Bowl parade because her dad is sick and can’t do it. Of course the company rep sponsoring the float is driving her crazy. Of course they fall in love.
–Crown for Christmas : A NYC maid gets fired and then hired by a Royal Family to be a governess to the royal Princess. The King is set to wed during that time frame, but of course both the Princess and the King fall in love with the maid. Ah true love.
–A Very Merry Mix Up: Alice is going to meet her fiance and met her in-laws for the first time. She arrives at the airport, but her cell is dead and she can’t get in touch with her in-laws. She sees who she thinks is her future brother in law and leaves with him. She falls in love with the family and of course later realizes she went home with the wrong family! What happens? You have to watch and see!
–Christmas Connection: Sydney is a flight attendant with an unaccompanied minor, Leah, on her flight. After getting Leah to her Dad she realizes Leah left something in her bag. Sydney then needs to go to their house and drop it off. Since she has some days off before her next flight she hangs out with the family and you can only imagine what happens.
–Christmas in Evergreen: The town vet is leaving town a week before Christmas to meet up with her boyfriend in the new town she will be moving too. A snowstorm delays her flight and she chats up a father and daughter on their way to Christmas in Florida. There flight is delayed away so she takes them to town to get them a hotel room and let’s just say she never makes it to see her boyfriend.
–The Mistletoe Promise: Two strangers meet and realize the both hate the holidays and all of the traditions and get-togethers they need to attend. They decided to make a pact and be each others plus ones during the holiday season. Will the fall in love with each other and Christmas? :
–The Christmas Cure: An ER doctor returns to her hometown for the holidays only to find out that her dad is retiring and closing his medical practice. While at home she reunites with her high school love and starts feeling all the feels about being at home.
Happy Viewing!!! Have a favorite that’s not on the list? Add it in the comments! I love finding new ones to fall in love with!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I haven’t watched many in the past but this year my husband was an extra in Christmas at Graceland and we have been ALL IN this year. Watching them all. Also fun to learn fun little details of behind the scenes stuff.
