Not sure if I’m going to go back to doing this every week since I try and share what we are doing via instagram stories and I don’t want to bore people with the duplicate details, but I’ve been told that people aka my sisters miss my little recaps and I really enjoyed having our memories documented somewhere. There have been many times where I have gone back to search my blog and see what I was up to a certain weekend. So, on the weekends, which are not just spent relaxing at home and running errands I will share what we were up to!
On Saturday we went to see a potential house in the same school district Hudson is already in. Our relator warned us that it needed everything and that she thought I wouldn’t like it, but we actually really liked it. It was a complete mess inside and out, but I could see the potential and I’m not going to lie I have already renovated it in my head. Of course there are issues other than the renovations. The house has an illegal apartment that needs to be dealt with, two additions that have open permits and crazy high taxes. It’s also at the top of the budget and the renovations are more than just removing carpet and a simple coat of paint, which means the price needs to go down quite a bit. The realtor agrees it’s too high so, hopefully the price will go down. Lots of hiccups, but I’m trying to be hopeful that things can come together and it will all work out. If anything I’m just happy that we actually saw something that got me excited, because it’s been months since I have seen any houses that have done that.
After touring the house we went out to Avo Taco, which is a new fast causal Mexican restaurant a couple of towns over. I have been driving by numerous times and have always wanted to go, but I’ve always been alone and I wanted to go with everyone. We finally had the chance to go and it did not disappoint.
The inside was beautiful done with so many fun elements like surfboards suspending from the ceiling.
The restaurant is fast causal, which means you need to go online or to one of the kiosks they have and place your order. Then you bring a number to your table and the servers bring the food to you. It was great for us, because it was much nicer than fast food, but still fast and easy to do with the boys. They also have a liquid license and there is a full bar with anything you like including custom drinks!
We ordered chips and queso and it was delicious! Immediately I wished we had ordered more than one order of chips and send Jon back up. Guess what? There are free re-fills on the chips!
There are so many tacos to pick from including veggie, seafood, chicken, pork and steak. This one was my favorite!
Every meal ends with a sweet treat because they have cute little free ice cream cones!
They also had a fun video game table which the boys enjoyed trying it out.
After lunch we went to visit Jon’s grandma that lives near by. You would think the boys would be bored because she has no toys there, but they love it. Everything in the house is cool to them and they enjoy themselves quite a bit! We also always stop at a bakery and bring her cookies so, they enjoy that as well!
We spent the rest of the day back at home. Once the boys step inside the house their t-shirts come off along with socks and shoes and they just start playing together and don’t want to leave! My sister and brother in law were spending the night over so it was a full house!
On Sunday we enjoyed some freshly made homemade bread. It was easy to make but quite the process while you wait for dough to rise and then deal with heating the stove. Sounds easy but it was long. I may have also melted the handle of my crockpot lid because I didn’t have a dutch oven and the recipe said you could sub it with your crock pot and I just placed it in not even realizing that our handle was plastic! Whoops! Luckily you need to warm the empty crock pot before placing the dough so, I was able to swap out the lid once I put the dough in.
We also swapped out an old lighting fixture in my parents upstairs hallway and replaced it with this beauty from Hudson Valley Lighting. It’s just so pretty and was so simple to install! This hallway is getting a lot more love coming it’s way, but the light has already made a huge difference.
I also opened up some fun mail from Dawn Graham Designs!!!! Dawn designs the most beautiful earrings that are full of color and character! She graciously sent me a couple of pairs to test them out. I immediately put on a cute pair called Funky Town with a felt ball and tassels and tomorrow I’m taking the orange and pink beauties for a spin!
I ended the day with a little Sisters Day Out! We went to go see Claudia Oshray aka Girl With No Job’s stand up show. We weren’t sure what to expect. We all listen to The Morning Toast, but didn’t know what to expect of the show. We are happy to report that we really enjoyed it. Claudia was great on stage and was very funny and relatable. We were hoping for more singing! Hopefully next time!
We ended our day with a birthday cake for my brother-in-law. Happy Birthday Steve!
It was a fun weekend and I’m already counting down the days till next weekend.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I like your weekend recaps!
Yay! I’m going to do a better job and start posting them again!
I’ve been following since before you had kids and I love your weekend recaps. I also love when you are househunting and show pictures of the homes you have looked at.
Fun! Ok, I’m going to do a better job at posting them again. I thought I was boring people!
