This weekend the weather was beautiful and we got to enjoy a lot of time outside! Our Saturday morning started off with soccer practice for Asher! It was so cute seeing him all lined up. They warmed up and did some exercises and then drills. All super cute! We brought chairs and blanket and snacks to cheer him on from the sidelines. I’m a totally crazy mom that screams and claps, etc when he does the littlest thing.
Afterwards we decided to enjoy more of the nice weather and we went fishing with the boys. Jon had been scouting out different locations where it was easy to catch fish. Fishing can be a really long game. There is a lot of waiting and most times you end up catching nothing! In order to keep the boys excited about it, Jon finds locations where it’s easier for them to catch fish. The spot he found was a gold mine. You would literally cast your rod and in a couple of seconds you would feel something taking a bite! I caught 6 fish!!!!
On Sunday we did a lot of Spring cleaning in the house! We took apart the kitchen, a pantry closet and our downstairs bathroom. It was nice to get organized and clear out a lot of the clutter. While I was inside with my mom, Jon tackled the outside with the boys. They prepped the lawn for seeding. We ran out to Home Depot for supplies and they had the prettiest selection of flowers! Loved all of the shades of purple.
They also had these chic clam shell bowls ! It would look so pretty filled with lemons and lines or even succulents as a centerpiece!
Then I wandered around the tile section because I need some for my sisters apartment renovation. Check out these beauties!
Love this natural stone tile with brass inlay! Super chic and while it may seem a bit high at $21 a sheet it’s total a steal. I have priced it out at other tile suppliers and it’s even crazier there.
Loved the the hexagon shape on this tile:
How stylish is this marble and black tile! Only $12.49 a sheet!
We also did a little house hunting! We are really trying to stay in the same town where we grew up and my parents still live in. Hudson loves the school and I must admit it all feels like a home and I’m having a hard now considering other towns. The only issues are that the town is super small so, there isn’t a ton of inventory and the area has gotten really popular so the prices have gone sky high. Ugh, right! We hit up two open houses with potential. Our favorite one was a super kooky house with questionable design choices, but it was a great size, really nice lawn and around the corner from Grandma and Pop Pop. I nearly had a heart attack when I spied this guy at the open house!
Lots of wallpaper, textured rock walls, and dead animals throughout.
All of the details! Now, while I don’t love any of their design decisions, I do like that they loved the house and really took the time and care to make it their own. I can totally get behind that! Of course, I’m itching to get in and put my own spin on it!
What were you up to this weekend? Did the spring cleaning bug hit you as well? Or did you tackle your garden? Home Depot was full of people in the garden center and practically all of the veggie plants were gone!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
