We got a jumpstart on our weekend when I got a call on Thursday at 4am. It was go time for my sister! Her water broke and she was going to labor at home for a bit and then head into the hospital.
I got the boys off to school and then headed into the city around noon where she was still waiting on a epidural and a room. Apparently summer is a very popular time for babies and the hospitals fill up really quickly. We spent the whole day in the city waiting to met the latest family member, but he had other plans.
At 10pm she was only at 5 centimeters so, we all went home for a little sleep. At 5am we got the call that she was at 10 centimeters!!!! I got ready and jumped in the car and made it into the city in record time!
She pushed for 45 mins and he was here!!!! Overall her labor was 29 hours, but momma and baby did great!
I kept joking that I wanted to do skin on skin with him and even wore a button down shirt to shove him in there. Haha. Don’t worry I contained myself! It’s just crazy that he is here! It was surreal for me to see my little sister pregnant and since I have always played mom with my sisters, I literally wanted to be able to do the delivery for her so, she wouldn’t have to experience any pain. I was super anxious about the labor and delivery and when it was all going to happen. So, I was so excited that it all happened, everything went smoothly and everyone was doing well! Total relief and I was able to enjoy the bliss of being Aunt Camila!
Only two visitors were allowed up at a time so, we sent the day taking turns. Try telling two aunts they need to wait in the lobby. I was sending my brother in law photos like this to see if we could come up and visit!
We spent Friday in the city and in the afternoon Jon bought the boys in to meet their new cousin.
They are smitten. Hudson was excited, but is a little nervous over how tiny he is. He hasn’t wanted to hold him, because he says he is way too strong and he is afraid he will hurt him. Asher has not had that problem. He is all about the baby.
Uncle Steve is one of their favorite people so a mini Uncle Steve plus Aunt Mena is mind blowing to them.
Asher got hooked on the baby and wanted to constantly hold him. At one point we were arguing with each other over who got to hold him. We were literally timing each other and Asher just kept making little gestures with his hands saying, give me!
Saturday we toured two houses in town and one really has potential! I have already started decorating it in my head. We will see how it goes! Option 2 was a crazy deal but needs a lot of work, which will probably make it just as much as the other house once we are done fixing it.
This room in option 1 got me excited right away! Love the vaulted ceilings!
The boys made themselves right at home!
The house is on the dated side with lots of updates that seem to have happened in the 70s and 80s, but it looks like it was loved and really taken care of.
This room looked like it had a massive cat scratching post in it, but it was meant to be a lofted bed.
Option 2 was actual the same layout as option 1, but without the additions. So it was missing 3 rooms that option 1 had. It was also in bad shape and needed new everything. It also had so weird quirks like a random shower in the hallway that headed into the kitchen. The price though was much better! We shall see what happens, but we were excited to finally find something that got us excited in the town we want to be in.
After lunch I headed back into the city to check on my sister and brother in law and of course my nephew. No one else was there so, I was able to snuggle with him and be a total baby hog! It was pure bliss!
Ah babies are the best! I know that the baby stage can be tough parenting wise, but it really was my favorite phase.
Sunday we spent the day doing yard work and getting everything nice and pretty for summer. We were also able to get pictures of Sebastian in his nursery! The little guy looks right at home!
The boys have already asked a million times when they are going to Sebastian again. They are not happy they have to go back to school and can’t just go and play with him.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
