Last year Jon’s parents sold their home and moved out east. For those of you not local to Long Island, out east is the east end of the island. Right before it forks into the North Fork and South Fork aka Hamptons and Montuck there is a town called Riverhead. It’s a bit of a hike for us now since we were use to having them about 2 mins away from us, which was really nice. This past weekend we went out to spend the weekend with them and do all of the summer things!
Typically Jon’s parents had a more traditional design style and their previous home was full of wood tones, gold, cream, burgundy and sage green. Now that are out east and really close to the beach the vibe is more coastal/beach. They went with creamy walls, and navy pops throughout the new house.
There dining room still has most of the furniture from their old house so they have added some of the new vibe in with a new rug, window treatments and lighting. We even gifted them host/hostess chairs for Mother’s/Father’s day.
We headed right out to the pool and were met with quite the menagerie.
After lots of time in and out of the pool and then back in again! I bought 3 bathing suits each for the boys because I knew this would happen.
Then we headed into Greenport, NY. If you are ever vacationing on Long Island during the summer it’s worth a trip. Such pretty views, lots of cute shops and restaurants and a carousel. There is also your pick of vineyards on the drive out! Most times the South fork with the Hamptons and Montuck get all of the summer love, but we really love the North Fork. It’s a bit quieter and is full of farm stands, vineyards, a lavender farm, fishing spots, beaches, etc!
Isn’t the water so pretty! I love when the sunshine hit’s and makes it sparkle like there are diamonds in it!
We headed right to the docks to do a little fishing with the boys.
They each caught two each!
Brothers are the best! I turned around and saw them doing this!
After fishing and a ride on the carousel we ended up at Claudio’s for dinner. The food isn’t anything to write home about, but they have a really big and nice outdoor area looking out to the marina and water and live music.
Asher enjoyed their shark display! He took many, many, photos like this!
After dinner we ended up at Magic Fountain for a sweet treat before dinner. Then Sunday morning we had a lazy morning with more pool time! I swear the boys never really tire of it!
In the afternoon my family came over so that everyone could meet Sebastian!
The pool is heated and salt water so we got the approval to dip him in! He was unsure at first, but then really loved it!
The boys are obsessed with Sebastian. To them he is a brother that lives with my sister and brother in law. They ask me constantly why Sebastian can’t just live with us. Haha. Hudson finally asked me if I could just get them one aka get them a baby brother. I told them to talk to Jon, but that we can’t guarantee a brother they might get a sister. He wasn’t into the idea as much when he realized it could be a sister.
We had a yummy early dinner before we all headed back home. The boys love nothing more than when both sides of the family are together so, they were heaven!
It was a fun and exhausting weekend. We were all struggling a bit on Monday to get back into the swing of work and camp.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
