February break is finally over! The boys were home all last week, which made working interesting. We did a blend of work and fun throughout the week with adventures in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The highlight of the week? A trip on the Subway! This weekend we had to buckle down and get back into school mode because Hudson had his first big school project! Now, I love a good school project especially when it comes with a creative component. For this project, Hudson had to read a biography and then write about it and do a project. The project could have been going into school dressed as the person in the biography, draw a poster, etc. Hudson picked making a Pokemon card! We went to the library to pick a person and ended up going with Abraham Lincoln. We got 5 school-age apropiate biographies to read and then picked our favorite to use for our report!
We did our research and writing on Saturday and then on Sunday, we worked on the Pokemon card. It came out so well!!!! Let me tell you it’s super hard for me not to take over and do it myself so, I stepped away during the craft part and Jon took over. I offered suggestions, but let Hudson do his thing! He even used his new marker air sprayer to get the entire card covered.
We also had a little trip to FIVE BELOW for treat! The boys behaved really well when we went to the Museum of Natural History and instead of the museum gift shop they could go to Five Below instead.
The boys went for robots and I found some cute items too!
Cute and colorful beach totes:
Cute rainbow sneakers:
Metallic and cream rope basket for your console table, coffee table, etc.
I also spent the weekend using my chin lift mask. I talked about this on stories and people were going crazy for it. I have tried a couple of brands and the one that works the best has hyaluronic acid. I try to leave them on for an hour if possible but the package says 30 mins is good enough. It tightens up under your chin minimizing any double you may have and defines your jaw area. I have been enjoying it and feel a difference when I don’t mask in the morning.
On Sunday before we worked on Hudson’s school project we took the boys for haircuts! Guys, they are looking so big. I feel like they lost all of the baby-ness that their faces use to have!
Hudson tried a new style and we are all loving it. Now let’s see if he lets us continue to put gel in his hair.
Asher enjoys this haircut but most days he doesn’t let us do gel so, he ends up with bangs. He has also grown a couple of inches recently and has been all sort of clumsy. The poor kid ran into a wall on Saturday and now has a big bruise by his eye. He also can’t figure out smiling for pictures. All-day long he can smile. I whip out my phone to take a picture and he doesn’t know what to do. When I finally do get a smile his eyes are closed.
After haircuts and school projects, I had a client meeting. This meeting was all about millwork, but I did get to test out some fabrics for a bathroom bench.
What are you feeling? We like the patterned fabric but it’s not stain-resistant, which is leading us towards the solid but textured gray fabric.
I also finished up Would Like To Meet by Rachel Winters, which is a new British Rom-Com I read. It took me a while to get into it, but at the end I really liked it. It’s about a woman, named Evie Summers who is trying to keep her job at a talent agency. In order to do so, she needs to help their number one client write his new screenplay. It’s a romantic comedy that he is not inspired by. She offers help by going out into the world and playing out meet-cutes from romantic comedies and seeing what happens.
Happy Monday, all! Let’s do this!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
