This weekend we didn’t have any plans. This can be nice, but when you have two active boys the weekend can feel a bit long without set activities! Jon has been working on the house on weekends so, it’s up to me to enter them for most of the day. Luckily on Saturday, we got a surprise visitor!
He was rocking the new outfit I got him for Valentine’s day. We all agree that is he is the current family favorite around these parts. We are obsessed.
The boys had a play date going on at our house so, while they were busy playing I was with Sebastian and my parents. While his mommy and daddy went to run an errand we tried getting him to crawl. He was not into it!
He loves my cell phone case so we were trying to use it to
get him excited.
Later on in the day, we all went out to eat at our favorite taco place! Sebastian bought his own food, but he still enjoyed the atmosphere!
It’s so fun to see Jon as an Uncle. They have a special bond and Jon seems to know the direct line to his funny bone. He constantly has him giggling like crazy! Ah! Now you can see why Sebastian gives me all of the baby fever!
On Sunday we ran a couple of errands and I popped into Michaels and spied this cute and colorful playroom sign. There is equally cute CREATE sign available online plus a Be a Nice Human colorful sign and Do More Of What Makes You Happy sign. All colorful and ready for a kids’ room.
They also had really pretty plaid and floral chargers and plates.
We also popped into Home Depot to get some paint swatches because the time has come to re-paint my parents’ kitchen cabinets. We did it back in 2010 and for the most part, they still look good. The countertop has seen better days so, we will be updating that, changing out the backsplash and then re-painting the cabinets!
They have patterned tiles all throughout the main floor of the house. They were not their choice. The previous homeowners put them in and my parents just worked with them. They are actually pretty trendy at the moment so, we are going to continue to work with them and make sure we pick a color for the cabinets that work with them.
After errands, I tried to entertain the boys with a craft project! I had a package of oven-baked clay in my craft supplies that was itching to get made into something. I was already envisioning all of the lovely things we would make together.
Guess who ended up making things? Hudson entertained for like 5 mins and then walked away, Asher literally made scratch marks on a brick of blue and called it the ocean.
I worked on marbelizing colors and tried to make little trinket trays for jewelry. Emphasis on tried. I’m going to work on a couple more and then I will photograph the finished products for you.
Our day ended with a little reading time because everything else was causing fighting. I finished Jessica Simpson’s book, Open Book which I really enjoyed. I have always been a fan of her and you can tell that she truly wrote the book. It’s written just like she speaks. Lots of things I remembered from watching Newlyweds so it was interesting to learn about what was really going on. I didn’t know a lot about her current marriage and it was nice to learn more about Eric and their relationship. Next up is Your a Badass at Making Money which is honestly just blah at the moment. The authors’ whole thing is that you have to just to use to the idea of making money and it will come to you. She writes about people being afraid to make money and selling out, etc so once you accept the idea that it’s okay to make money it will happen. Ummmm? No real advice here. I randomly grabbed it at a thrift store so it was only a dollar and I’m happy I didn’t pay retail for it. I will finish it and see if anything changes in it.
The night ended with Jon baking lemon bars! What can I say we have all been inspired by The Kids Baking Challenge. It’s our new go-to family show and we have going through all of the past seasons on Hulu! While Jon baked I made dinner. It’s my super easy go-to pasta that everyone eats and doesn’t complain about! It’s just rigatoni with butter, lots of parmesan cheese and some minced garlic. Mix it all together and watch the dish disappear.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
