For the longest time the only thing I cared about when it came to my face was make up. I didn’t even care if it clean just that I liked wearing it. I will admit that I even went to bed on occasion without taking it off! Awful, I know! Then this past year I realized that since am getting older I really should take care of my skin more. So, I cleaned out my makeup and switched to all all clean make up. It started with a super skin serum foundation and once I received it and feel in love with it I got all of my other essentials. I have been using it for a couple of months now and I have nothing but rave reviews! I’m constantly getting people to make the switch! Then instead of just make up wipes I decided that I should start using a cleanser instead so, I made the switch to a BeautyCounter cleanser and silicone face brush which I adore! The face brush is pure heaven. Your skin will feel like a baby’s bottom. With all of that in order I realized I need to swap out my skincare items as well. It was all very overwhelming and I wasn’t sure where to start. I remember there being buzz about The Ordinary and I decided to give it ago. I was a teeny bit hesitant because a blogger I follow that loves skincare isn’t a fan, but she has super dry skin and my skin is oily so, I decided to chance it and see if it would work for me. I’m happy to report that I have fallen in love with my The Ordinary products for my oily skin and have already placed a re-order on my favorite pieces.
Here is my skin before at the beginning of the summer: I have always had dark circles! Always! I don’t have a ton of wrinkles but I do have a couple of creases under my eyes and I was finding that my concealer was getting in the little lines and making the creases look even worse.
Then here is my skin at the middle of summer: My under eye circles started getting a bit better. The redness around my nose is gone. Skin looks brighter and I would have no problems leaving the house like this.
Over labor day weekend I went out to Jon’s parents house without makeup. We were going right in the pool and I figured there was no point in wasting my makeup to have it come off quickly in the pool. I checked in the mirror and was shocked at how good my skin looked! My under eye darkness and creases had pretty much disappeared. No, don’t get me wrong I still wake up with them in some form, but after I do my skin care technique they are pretty much gone.
At the end of summer: I mean look at that! I had zero make up on! I was amazed! Do I still get the occasion blemish? Yes, for me it’s hormonal and happens once a month. But the creases and the darkness and pretty much gone!
Here are the products I have been loving from The Ordinary.
No. 1 : The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid is my favorite product! It really helps plump up my face and help with those little creases under my eyes. I apply it in the morning after my shower. It’s works much better if you apply it when your skin is a little damp.
No. 2: The Ordinary Caffeine Solution is another favorite! I apply it after the hyaluronic acid. It helps with your under eye puffiness and those dark circles! For me, it works wonders! I’m in love with it!
In the morning that’s typically all I use from The Ordinary. I do apply a moisturizer before my make up routine, but it’s just a drug store find. Waiting for it to finish before I swap it to a clean beauty product.
In the evening I do a couple more products. No. 1 and 2 can be applied in the AM/PM so, if I have time and remember I do them as well. If not, I just go straight to these products after my make up removal:
No. 3:The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution: Just goes on in the PM after your cleanser. It’s a mild exfoliator and helps with skin brightness.
No. 4: The Ordinary Ninacinamide & Zinc really helps to minimize my pores. The best way to apply it is to place some drops on your hand and then pat it onto your face. If you rub it on you will get a white residue. This is why I don’t like wearing it in the morning. Whenever I apply it and then put on make up you can get the residue and it starts pilling a bit off your face so, I find it best for nighttime.
No. 5: The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension helps with hormonal acne and skin texture. For me this one tingles a little bit when I apply it, but it does my skin super silky after applying it. It does leave a slight white film on my skin, which is why I use it at night and don’t apply make up over it.
Next is my nighttime moisturizer which is another drug store find that I’m finishing up and then I will be swapping for something cleaner.
No. 6 The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil: Goes on after your moisturizer and a little goes a long way. It’s very rich and helps give you a bit of a glow. I like to apply it on my face and then use my jade roller gua set.
That’s it! It seems long, but it’s not too big. I keep the AM products in a tray on my nightstand so, it’s super easy to do while I’m in bed!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
