This weekend we went to visit Jon’s family and celebrate a couple of birthdays! October is a busy month with birthdays in the Pavone Family! It was just us, Jon’s parents and Jon’s sisters and respective boyfriends. It was Oktoberfest theme and I was able to enjoy lots of warm pretzels, ax throwing, archery, and even some pumpkin painting and time by the fire pit. We stayed outside to be covid safe so it was nice to have lots of activities to go around and do.
Jon’s parents have a nice sized backyard so this set up was in one of the corners. They also set up a border around it so, that no one would be around near ax throwing. It was a lot of fun! There was a real ax for the adults and a foam target board and ax for the boys. Of course Asher got his hands on the real deal and did really well with it. Don’t fret there was always an adult with them.
We also all fought over Harry to get some extra body warmth! It got chiller as the day went on and his little body was like a hot pocket! Asher also thought that Harry would enjoy my buffalo check more than me.
Asher enjoying the fire pit! Can you tell that Hudson isn’t loving being in photos anymore! Ah boys!
I did manage to take some time to get some photos of the little projects I have worked on in their home. Jon’s parents moved about an hour away a couple of years ago and while they did immediate changes like the kitchen these past couple of months they have tackled some design projects.
Their entryway/foyer got a dose of life with a new wallpaper! It’s amazing what adding wallpaper can do to a space! Originally I discussed adding a pattern of some sort with my MIL, but after looking at all of the memo’s we realized that what made the most sense was a smaller scale pattern. We both fell in love with Gibson by Anna French! It gives off the vibe of a grasscloth wallpaper with a pattern that gives off a look of texture, but it’s nice and smooth.
Then there is a sitting room/living room to the left of the entry way. Here is where we got to bold with the wallpaper and used Honshu by Thibaut. It was a perfect blending of traditional with a modern twist. A super-sized floral that is nowhere near something dated or overly feminine. We are still waiting on a mirror, but overall I’m so happy with the transformation!
Since the house is an hour away we have our own room so that we can sleep over whenever we like. The room is filled with a queen bed for Jon and I and two twin beds for the boys.
Here is what it use to look like: It felt a bit tight with the layout of the boys bed so, one day over the summer we moved things around to see if they would fit by flanking them on the window.
I did a little zhushing and now it looks like this! Just add a little accessories, new artwork and a couple new pillows! My favorite part has to be the new artwork! I immediately fell in love with this lobster print and love that it added in some pinks and red. Normally I’m not a huge fan of red, but when paired with blue it works so nicely that I really get into it.
I found this little fish during my last thrifting trip and I immediately new he was meant to live in this room. Isn’t he sweet!
I’m also happy to report that my Rothy lace up sneakers arrived and I’m in heaven! I went with the vanilla colorway and they are perfect. I have worn them with dresses and they look fab! I’m excited to try them out with leggings and jeans. They are super comfy and chic! I also enjoy that I’m able to wear my normal ankle socks and they don’t really peek out!
If you want to try out your own pair I do have a link to get you $20 off your Rothy’s purchase!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
