Happy New Year! We are 11 days into 2022 and I have finally had a moment to catch my breath! The holiday decorations have been put away and I’m ready to tackle the new year with gusto! We are currently moving things into our new house! We are so close to being finished that we decided to start bringing things over and organizing everything while the finishing touches get done. We are hoping to be fully moved in by the end of January. Fingers and toes crossed for us! It has been exhausting! We have so many things stored in sheds, garages, and parents’ houses that I now feel like a little squirrel that stores nuts all over the neighborhood and isn’t exactly sure which trees she put nuts into. More to come on house updates and the status on what is left to finish! Now back to the matter at hand!
Typically I get fresh new bedding at the beginning of the year! This year I had picked up queen-sized bedding not realizing that the new house has a new king-sized bed! So, I decided to update my parents’ bedroom with fresh bedding and pretend it was mine for the photoshoot at least! They slept in it last night and loved it! I’m going to be picking it up in the king-size for the new house!
My parents have dark wood bedroom furniture and it’s lightened up by the light paint color and white bedding! I love crisp bedding with trim and typically I get the classic hotel trim border, but when Karin, one of the owners of Crane & Canopy sent me photos of their new collection I knew I needed to try out the scalloped applique border! The new design is called, Camellia and it comes in navy, ivory, and taupe! It’s 100 percent Egyptian cotton and it is woven in Italy! This duvet cover and shams are truly world travelers and they fit right at home in your home.
Look at that beautiful detailing! Scallops are really having a moment with it’s scape being used in mirrors, edges of tables and so much more, but really it’s a timeless shape that you can use for years to come!
In honor of new year, new bedding I decided to host a little virtual slumber party with some of my favorite fellow bloggers!
Make sure you check out my pals, Carli from Made by Carli, Amanda from Love & Renovations, and Rebecca Propes! I’m so excited to read their answers!
My favorite movie to watch during a slumber party is? This is so difficult to choose, but I’m going to go with my go-to favorite that I would always watch during a slumber party in my teens, Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze was my first crush! Such a good movie and the soundtrack is awesome!
-My go to snack is? I love buttered popcorn with m&m’s! The m&m’s melt a little with the warmth of the popcorn and it’s just a treat!
-Makeovers and games or just relaxing and chatting? I like doing all of the things! I love getting to paint my nails and do a face mask, along with playing a fun game of fishbowl and then just relaxing and chatting the night away! I remember in my teens we use to play all sorts of scary games like, Crack an egg on your head or an ouija board. All sorts of spooky things!
-Do you stay up all night talking to your friends or do you actually fall asleep at some point? I would love to say that I’m able to stay up all night, but at a certain point, I will fall asleep.
-Pillow fight: Real or Not Real and How many pillows are the perfect amount for a bed? While I have seen many pillow fights occur on TV during slumber parties I have never actually been a part of one! Decor wise I would say that 3 accent pillows are the perfect amount for a bed that won’t cause a fight with my husband. Haha. After all this time he still doesn’t get that we put them on just for decoration to then take them off before we go to sleep.
All of this sleepover talk has me itching to throw a real good old-fashioned sleepover!
Want the best little party favor if you are hosting your own in person slumber party?
Aren’t they cute? I did these for holiday gifts this year! Just purchase a pair of furry slippers and pearl and rhinestone initials that you can easily adhere with E6000 glue and then add a couple of stitches as well.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
