Well we did it! After a lot of eye lash batting on my end and huffs and puffs on Jon’s end we finally came to terms that the living room was going PINK!
Originally our living room had a brown/white/cream/orange with pops of blue color combo. Slowly I started to tweak things and we are now working with a white/cream/orange/pink/yellow/green combo. I wanted to inject a bit of black into the space so the brown needed to go.
We were going to paint it ourselves, but we’ve been working till really late every day and most weekends so we needed a rest. Craigslist to my rescue. My normal paint guy would have charged me a lot ($400-$600). I went on Craiglist and placed an ad under their gigs section and able to find many people willing to do it for $150. I had my pick of people to choose from.
I loved the shade, but haven’t loved the actual MS paint line (Sorry Martha! Still your biggest fan) so I had it made in Behr Paint and Primer in 1. My dark brown walls only took 2 coats to disappear.
*Normally I have no problems getting a paint color from one brand made using another brand as the base, but this time we were told that employees are getting in trouble for doing this so in order to still get it done the employee helping us simply ripped a piece of our paper swatch so that it didn’t say MS and color matched it.
So on Saturday we went from this:
To this:
Please excuse the messy room. I just wanted to get pictures with some sunlight so I started snapping away.
The color really is barely there, but with all of the white accents in the room you can really see the pink tone to it. I’m happy and Jon’s happy.
Oh course one change leads to another and I totally want to forgo my striped chair and white sofa and get two smaller sofa’s to flank the fireplace. We shall see. I think I’m going to live with it for awhile before I make any purchases.
Can’t wait to finish putting everything back in the room. See, we are almost finished..ah who am I kidding I’m never finished when it comes to my house.
Isn’t it so fun to switch things up? The change is drastic and very calming. I think the new wall colors gives a new life to your furniture. I’m with you living with it all for a while and then deciding what you want to tweak some more.
Amazing how bright and light the space is now, the color is so pretty and soft, looking forward to seeing the whole room put together! And how you ever got this color past the guy of the house…impressive! Janell
Don’t you just LOVE it? Your pink is very similar to mine and I love how it can look white but when you see write against it, you get the little hint of pink. I think your living room looks gorgeous and that little hit of Misia- love love!
pretty! i, too, am going to be injecting some black into our living room. i think it must be spring in the air…i want to change up everything in my house as well! so annoying! 🙂 your pink looks great, though.
I just love it! And I love it even more that John loves it!:) Do you feel pretty in the room? Wearing pink is like natural blush for your cheeks.. should work in a room too!
Love that Pink, and I can see why Jon would be okay with it! It’s not so in your face… it’s subtle and beautiful. Great choice (but that’s no surprise!)
You CANT get rid of the striped chair!!! I LOVE it… if you do, ship it to me, haha! Seriously, I scrolled down and saw that first photo with the brown walls and the chair jumped out as so beautiful. 🙂 The walls look great, too. :p
Wow it looks beautiful! I am impressed you got your husband on board! It really brightens up the room. It is subtle but still makes a statement. I LOVE your tiered white shelf in the corner, can you tell me where it is from.
Absolutely lovely!!!!! I can’t wait to see it all complete…and gotta love pink! Also that red/white striped chair is divine…great job! And so glad your hubby’s happy! I have been wanting to paint my bedroom light pink for quite sometime, luckily my man is on board…he comes from a father whose favorite color is lavender and orange. Great job!

I love the pink, it’s perfection! I like the airiness of it. Can’t wait to see more of this room.
I am dying to paint our guest room pink but still looking for the perfect fit.
OMG! I just finished painting our master closet/dressing room this exact shade! I had it color matched to the same Behr paint and 2 coats completely covered the dark tan we had before. I am LOVING the shade and how much brighter it looks in there. I’m planning to create a stencil of China Seas Aga and do it in a white pearlescent paint over the pink on 2 of the walls. Also debating bright yellow drapery in there and have been fretting that it might be too much with all the open storage but I love the color combo. Can’t wait to see how you finish the room!
Did you say you would get rid of the white & red striped chair? I love it with those walls…..pink is just a lighter version of red and I think it looks so fresh and pretty together! Beautiful walls, by the way. My bedroom is the same colour — my husband is a bit colour blind and thinks it’s white!
Such a drastic, but refreshing change. I’m not usually a pink girl, but I love how these walls look! I’m leaning towards lighter, more neutral walls myself and using decor for bright accents. I’m good friends with your SIL and was at your house over a year ago. I must say it’s even more gorgeous in person. 🙂

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Glad the shades still work!

This is so gorgeous. It’s subtle and not overly girly.

Hi Jess,
So funny to see you here. I believe you are friends with JoAnn, right? She was recently in your wedding I think. Green bridesmaid dresses?
🙂 C
Yes. That’s the one 🙂 Don’t mean to be a stalker. She told me about your website after I visited because I loved your house so much.
