Today’s IN HER SHOES featured lady juggles many balls in the air. Valorie from Visual Vamp works with interior design clients, styles photo shoots, produces shop displays, does PR at a local home store called Perch and teaches Tango with her husband! Whew! I tried just typing all of that up!
Enjoy a peek into her day and check out all of pair of shoes that she steps into every day!
I’m Valorie Hart and I write the blog Visual Vamp.
I start my day around 6 AM in New Orleans. Pink flip flops are the first shoes I slip into. I make coffee, let the dog out, feed the dog and kitty and scoop the cat litter. I may do some laundry or other light house chores. I check out the garden, and water the plants. I watch the local news and Today show, and if I have time, I check email and do my freelance writing assignments. I’m due at 10 AM (Tuesday-Saturday) at the home decor shop I work in as a design consultant and PR manager called perch.
Sundays and Mondays are my days off. On Sunday I read the New York Times, maybe watch a classic movie, and then see where the day takes me. I don’t go on the computer at all on Sunday. On Mondays, I see design clients, or do house projects, or go scouting to write my GoNola posts.
Most evenings are spent at home, and I love to watch the usual junk TV: Dancing With the Stars, Top Model, Top Chef, the Houeswives and Bethany occasionally though I’m tired of them this season, and some HGTV. I love the HBO show Treme, and Nurse Jackie on Showtime.
I usually walk to work, unless there are some early morning house calls to clients homes to measure or have a meeting or drop things off. Then I drive a red 1985 BMW around town. I wear ballet flats to work. I have several pairs, but my newest fave are a pair of zebra print ones with a gold medallion designed by Anne Klein.
I keep a pair of pumps at work, in case there is meeting I need to look more polished or taller for. Tallness in a meeting can be very useful.
I leave the shop around 6 0r 7 PM, and sometimes have an Argentine Tango lesson to teach in the evening after work, with my husband Alberto Paz. We have been teaching tango for 16 years. I have about three dozen pairs of tango shoes, and red is my favorite color. Alberto and I go out dancing socially every Friday night, and once a month on a Sunday. Sometimes we go to a tango practice on a Tuesday night.
If we don’t teach tango, we may go out to dinner, and I may slip into a pair of dressy shoes, just to look more glam. I love this pair of turquoise peep toe sling backs!
I am a night owl and usually stay up until 2-ish (or later!) in the morning. I am one those rare people who don’t need much sleep. I usually watch TV or read, and sometimes get back on the computer so I can read the blogs, and see what’s up on Facebook, or do some online research for design projects, or maybe do a little personal shopping.
I’m very much like all of you, loving life, keeping busy multi tasking, and wearing alot of different shoes!
A big thank you to Valorie for participating! I hope you all have a lovely start to the weekend. I need to start prepping for a consult I have tomorrow and finish getting my final costume details for my 1920s bash. Very happy that Friday came so quickly this week!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
