For a while now ( 2 years and 6 months) we have been toying with the idea of an addition for the house. Of course in life nothing is perfect and things happen and plans don’t always go as smoothly as expected and the start date of this project just kept getting delayed for one thing or another. Experts were brought in to try and make it happen a bit faster, but apparently the timing wasn’t right, because until April 2011 we were still in the planning, wishing, hoping stages of this project.
So, I bet you are all dying to know what our newest DIY project is! I’ve been keeping it a secret since April so I won’t make you wait any longer.
I’ve been pretty honest with all of you about the many bumps we’ve faced during our journey to get pregnant. I always thought we would get pregnant the second we wanted it to happen, but alas that was not our case. After trying on our own for a year we went to specialists and while I do have a blocked tube I still should have gotten knocked up on my own. So we did a cycle with a fertility doctor and got pregnant only to miscarry at 9 weeks. I can’t even explain how horrible this was. We were both broken after it and took a little break from trying to procreate after that. Everyone always told me it would just happen and to relax. I literally wanted to strangle everyone who told me this. I know they were trying to comfort me, but it did the complete opposite. In April off I went to High Point Market with Marianne were we talked lots about babies since she was pregnant. When I returned home I just felt a bit off and mid April we got the biggest surprise of our life!
I’ve been dying to tell all of you, because in a way it didn’t feel real until you all knew, but we wanted to wait a bit and make sure all was well with this little baby and so far things are. I’ve been feeling great with no morning sickness! I’ve just had horrible exhaustion and have literally spent the last couple of weeks just sleeping life away. So, if I’ve been delayed in replying to emails or my blog posts are lacking you now know why. I guess I should be thanking all of those people that told me it would just happen, because that’s the only explanation I have for our little miracle.
P.S. I thought doing our little photo shoot above would be a breeze. Totally wrong on that front. Apparently Jon is a bit camera shy and we had quite a bit of these shots:

Suffering a pregnancy loss is so hard (I know) but when you meet that new little love you will know that he or she was truly meant to be your first. Mike and I went down a similar conception path and I remember the sadness every time another friend would announce their pregnancy. I was happy for them but wanted the same for us. All I can say now is be careful. It was like once my body figured out how the whole pregnancy thing worked I was a baby making machine. 🙂

We had a misscarriage this past April with what would have been our second child, should have been 9 weeks and the baby stopped developing at 6 weeks. Such amazing news! Congratulations! I just love hearing the happy endings of stories like yours! We also struggled to conceive for two years, only to get pregnant from IVF and miscarry our first baby at 8 1/2 wks last Dec. , so I know just how devastating that is. Now 2 1/2 years after we started, we are pregnant with twins, arriving this Dec too! I can’t wait to see your nursery, I’m sure it will be fabulous!
