This past Spring Hudson and I took a mommy and me class that included an arts & crafts portion and he loved it. I decided to give him his own little craft table at home and, because I can’t leave good enough alone I needed to zhush up the Ikea Latt children’s table.
I knew that a little paint would go a long way so when I was contacted by Lullaby paintsto work on a DIY project I knew exactly what I was going to work on. Lullaby paintsare chalkboard paints that can actually be shipped in the mail. They come in a cute package with a pouch full of paint, a roller, paint tray, painters tape and chalk.
I was excited to test the paint out because I loved the convenience of getting everything in one package and loved that the paint was super safe for Hudson because it is zero VOC with no odor.
We quickly got to work painting our set.
We decided to paint the frames of the table and chairs a bold orange and then painted the chair seats and table top a poppy shade of citron. Along with the chalk finish I decided to add a little something extra to our table set and got to work with a paint pen to draw streets from our neighborhood on the tabletop.
I figured Hudson could use the painted streets to draw his little cars on the road and then eventually draw in houses with chalk and eventually learn the street names near our house with our roads.
Once that was done we had to condition the pieces with a layer of chalk that need then needed to be wiped off before the fun could begin.
Here is our finished product!

Hudson gives it his approval!
I special thanks to Lullaby paints for contacting me to work on this project and sending me their tangerine, citron and antique white paints.
What a great idea! It looks fabulous! I gave my sister my children’s old table set and we wanted to paint it with chalkboard paint – love that the brand you used has no VOC!
This is the cutest DIY idea ever! I love the idea to draw the roads on top. I’m definitely keeping this in mind for when my 6 month old little dude is your adorable son’s age.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

P.S. Your about section is awesome! Too cute!
Great idea! I have the same table but hadn’t even thought of hacking the look until now – I love the orange look. I linked to your post today on my new blog of daily hints to help make parenting easier and cheaper:
