There is nothing better than coming in from a chilly day and wrapping your hands around a warm mug of hot cocoa. So, when Home Decorators Collection ® contacted me to part of their HDC Holiday Home Tour with some of my blogger friends I knew exactly what I would do! I love a good welcome into someones home and what could be better than being met by a hot cocoa station complete with sweet treats! Make sure you go all the way to the end of the post, because there is a chance for two readers to win a $250 gift card to Home Decorators Collection ®!!!!
I also wanted to zhush up my front door and add a little holiday spirit to it. So, I picked up some of these Martha Stewart wooden snowflakes that include battery operated lights! Their raw natural state didn’t go with my style, so in I very Martha way I turned them red with spray paint. I also added fresh garland around the door frame and I little extra dose of snowflakes with snowflake garland.
Once you come into my living room I used my DIY grasscloth console as my hot cocoa station set up area and got to work adding layers to add a holiday touch!
A plaid scarf became an easy table runner and helped bring my color story together. When decorating my home for an event or a holiday I always shop my home first! You never know what you might have in your closet that will work.
I love layering the mirror in this space. Last year I had a wire lighted reindeer bust over the mirror for Christmas and this year I decided to go with a Martha Stewart fabric mistletoe wreath. I love the handmade look of it and the red bow was the perfect touch. A little buffalo check ribbon from my local craft store and we were in business!
I love added greenery or flowers to my home and this snowy dunhill pre lit tree was the perfect height and the red bow on it mimicked the one on the wreath. I loved that it already had pinecones on it for decor, but I added a string of jute ball garland.
On the opposite side of the console I wanted something to counter the height of the tree. I picked up this reindeer treat sign as a nod to the sweet treats I would be providing my guests.
I like to keep things effortless around here especially when I’m entertaining. For the treats I ran out to my local Trader Joe’s and picked up their gluten free chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting (one of the best cupcakes I have ever had!), chocolate Christmas trees with mousse filling and their hot cocoa on a stick.
I also added a little fun to the mugs and added a candy cane in case a guest wanted a minty hot cocoa and a chocolate covered s’mores on a skewer as a little extra!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Such a cute idea, and that gorgeous red mirror just so happens to tie it all together! Merry Christmas!
