In honor of National Sleep Week I thought it would be fun to reach out to some of my favorite blogger friends and do a little blog hop and showcase our bedrooms! More specifically I wanted to showcase our bed/nightstand areas and give some tips on how we get our ideal beauty sleep. I don’t know about you, but with two little boys I can always use more beauty sleep. Before I know it it’s 7am and I have two additional little guests in bed with me.
Beauty Sleep Tip 1: Shut down the electronics. Easier said than done, but I have a little tip that helps me. I leave my cell phone chargers downstairs. My evening my phone is pretty dead so, I leave it in the kitchen charging and not on my nightstand. Totally helps me stop grabbing the phone at night and checking just one more thing!
Beauty Sleep Tip 2: Invest in an amazing down comforter. A couple of months ago I was still using a duvet insert from our wedding registry! Guys, we have been married 11 years now! I decided enough was enough and ordered this luxe down alternative. It is like sleeping with a cloud and since it’s down alternative you won’t get stabbed with feathers, which is a big deal breaker for Jon! Getting something new totally helped me fall asleep. It’s lightweight and cool when it’s hot out, but warm and cuddly when it’s cold out. I love it!
Beauty Sleep Tip 3: Make your bed in the morning! I’m a big believer that you should make your bed every morning! I can’t get a good start on my day knowing that my bed is a tangled mess of sheets and pillows in chaos. Ah! I cringe even thinking about it. I love getting into my bedroom at the end of the day and having a beautifully dressed bed! It just looks so invited and I’m ready to dive in and get my sleep! Another thing that doesn’t hurt? Beautiful bedding on your freshly made bed. My go-to source is always Crane & Canopy and I just a new duvet for Spring that I had to share. I did a mix of Pacific coral euro shams and Valencia pintuck in coral. Love the Valencia because I don’t need to iron it due to the pintucks! The spotty lumbar pillow is also from them. Love that it looks like a little like an animal print, but also like a dot and also like brushstrokes. To say I love it is an understatement.
Beauty Sleep Tip 4: Lavender! I know all of my essential oil loving friends are thinking, duh, but for me it took me a while to get convinced. I didn’t even realize I was using lavender as a sleep agent right away. My bedding came with a lavender pouch that I kept in my linen closet and therefore left my bedding smelling heavenly! I didn’t really put two and two together until a friend of mine ran a seminar on essential oils and talked about lavender and how it helps with relaxation and sleep. She actually puts it on her daughters wrists before she goes to bed so that they sleep soundly! I already ordered a lavender spray to put on my bedding, but I’m also going to get started on essential oils as well. I will report back!
Beauty Sleep Tip 5: I love watching a little TV, before I go to bed. I use to watch the news, but it started to stress me out. I already have a million tabs open in my brain and I’m stressed about a lot of things. I don’t need to add anything else to the mix. I decided to leave the news for my morning and instead indulge in something silly and light at night. My latest obsession, Bobs Burgers. It’s an animated show so I had never given it much thought, but it is so funny. I love it. Love all of the family members, the burger joint, the impromptu musical numbers. It always makes me laugh and I fall asleep thinking of that not the massive to-do list for tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed my tips! Hopefully I gave you a couple that you hadn’t thought off! It’s what works for me.
Here is the schedule for the rest of the week:
Tuesday- April from House by Hoff
Wednesday -Bre Rooms for Rent
Thursday – Alicia Thrifty and Chic
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
