I’m sure that you’ve all noticed the design challenge going around where bloggers have been asking people to select one photo that represents their own decorating style.
For the longest time I’ve been trying to decide what the perfect picture would be. You see I have a bit of design ADD. I love little bits of everything. I love cottage style, but I also love boho chic and why not thrown in some contemporary elements as well. I think the main key to being a good designer is being able to work with many different styles and help your client reflex their own personal style in the home as well.
On Saturday my mom had some of her friends come over to show them my new digs. They all ohhed and ahhed and loved everything they saw, which was super rewarding for me. I have no really been able to pin-point an exact name to my design style. I just know what I like, but one of the guests viewing my house described it as Traditional Modern.
I have never thought of myself as very traditional or very modern, but in looking around she was right. I like old homes full of character and love keeping some of those elements in place, yet I love color and little pops of fun throughout my home as well.
Enter one of my favorite design images that has everything that I love:
I love everything about this room. The window treatments and wallpaper can look a bit traditional especially if you continued with that look throughout the room, but adding pops of color and fun and you get that glam modern look that I’m loving.
I love all the different textures throughout the room. That touch of ruffle from the windows to the wrought iron bed. Oh love it all! Even though the room may seem a bit busy to some I think the crisp white bed linens help to balance that.
Now as for the fun in the room I’m loving the pops of turquoise and of course that to die for Chevron rug from Madeline Weinrib. Add to that one of my favorite accessory items the handbag and the touch of whimsy with the little bird and I’m one happy lady.
My favorite little tiny detail from the room has to be that orange book. It didn’t need to be there, but in my eyes it totally helps complete the look of the room.
So my loves have you all taken part and posted a favorite image of yours? Tell me all about it, because I want to go check them out!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Oh, I do have an image….in mind!
