Daniela’s Room: Price Break down

  1. Gwen says:

You are my hero! The headboard is my favorite too. Dear stepdaughter wants me to make one for her bed, but I need her to pick out fabric.

I had planned on using one big piece of MDF, but I really like the added texture the way you did it gives.

    Did she LOOOOVE IT?

  2. Jackie says:

It turned out AMAZING Camila! Such a sweet thing you did for your sister! I just love it all-especially the headboard you made. Such great ideas and inspirations in this room. Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE Ikea, I wish I had one close to me! You are seriously an amazing sister to spend all this time doing this for her, it looks stunning! I think my favorite think is the burlap covered necklace display/holder, perfect!

What did she say when she saw it? Was she completely surprised?

  6. Brenda says:

I am love it!!!! It must feel wonderful to have accomplished this amazing transformation. I can't wait to hear her reaction. Oh and I am so jealous your walmart has fabric. Ours removed that department to make room for a supermarket. 🙁

What a lucky, lucky girl your sister is, Camila! So thoughtful of you and the room looks dynamite! You should film the reveal and post it for our delight!

  9. Design Esquire says:

Thank you! I am now going to head to Joann's and Michael's to score the fabric, and try to find that mirror. I also want to make that jewelry holder. You did an AMAZING job on such a tight budget.

Absolutely lovely! 🙂 You did a wonderful job.

  11. Nakiya says:

FYI: I REALLY love those vintage travel posters, so I've been looking around to find them. You can get them from http://www.art.com or http://www.rainfall.com (which I think may be cheaper actually).

So sorry I didn't comment sooner. I've been out all day.

Danay loved the room! I put it on my twitter status, but I guess not everyone show. I'm trying to see if she'll write a short little post about her reaction. Maybe I'll react it and snap a pic!

Camila you did an amazing job! Especially considering you were tight on time and money! BTW- Don't you just love those 40% coupons from Michaels!

  24. Daniela says:

I just wanted to write a quick note to give my big sissy a huge THANK YOU! It was a fabulous surprise to come to!!! Especially after 24 hours of straight travel. I LOVE IT! All I want to do is lay in my beautiful new bed and absorb the beauty around me..but alas I am back at work. I have to admit that I do miss my plaster fun time art display but it was definitely time for a Big Girl Room.

Thanks so much CamJam (hows that for a nickname?) haha I know you hate it.

    I love you!
    Danay

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
