Do we still love it? : Foo Dogs

  1. Claiming Our Space says:

I love a little foo (or two). It reminds me of my trip to China. But a big foo, I think that is too much.

I am looking for a pair myself to peep from other accents, like delightful found objects. (Hubs doesn't know yet)

The larger ones (like the ones you fond) are a little in your face, for me, and turn them from an accent to the focal piece.

  2. brynalexandra says:

I have to admit, I'm not a fan! They are kind of scary to me. Maybe if there was a teenie tiny little cute one.. sort of like in the Domino picture. I love miniature anything!

  3. Erin says:

Personally…they scare me. But I guess that's why your the interior expert and I am not!!

  4. Lavender and Lilies says:

I don't have any but I don't mind the little ones. They are really cute. Especially the colorful ones. I don't really like a big one.

  5. Emily says:

I still love them! 🙂 I hope they aren't going out of style, because I have two!!

  6. my favorite and my best says:

    keep, but store.

  7. Liz @ It's Great To Be Home says:

I'm a fan in small doses – and I got an olive green Foo from Home Goods for a steal – gotta love that place!! 🙂

  8. Chic Geek says:

Still loving them! I just posted about a pair, and I am still trying to find just the right spot for my foo dogs. They just look great everywhere I try them! 🙂

  9. Katie (Refresh Design Studio) says:

hmmm, I've never really found the appeal in them, but I guess to each her own!

  10. MyLittleHappyPlace says:

NO WAY mine are heading to the thrift shop! They are a classic design element – you may find them on your grandma's built-ins, and that may scare some people, but I believe they've been around long before they were deemed trendy. If you love 'em – keep 'em! I don't buy into what the designerati claims is In or Out…

  11. A Diary of Lovely says:

i too think they are a bit scary, or at least That's what I thought when I first saw them, now there are growing on me (just a tiny bit) and I would gladly add a couple of small ones, like the cute Domino ones.

  12. ~Chandelier No. 4~ says:

If you love 'em, GET 'EM! But I say you go at it Palmer Weiss style.

    ~ Joanna

  13. One Love says:

You know, I've never been a fan. They're kinda weird look. However, when I spy them in design I can appreciate them!

  14. Nikki says:

send them to the thrift shop…so I can find them for cheap! I like the small ones. The big guys remind me a little of the Nutcracker with those large teeth.

  15. Sarah - La Jeune Marie says:

My hubby HATES them and I am over them, but at one time did think they were pretty cute!

  16. LindsB says:

You gave me mine, of course I love them!!

  17. Jennifer says:

Wes hates them. The tiny turquoise ones are darling, but if they are big they are a tad frightening to me!

  18. Visual Vamp says:

Step away from the Foo Dogs!
They are way over ha ha.
But stick them in the closet for a few years, and they will probably come back into fashion.
    xo xo

  19. A Refocused Life says:

Classic, and they work in the right space. Just not me.

  20. Averill says:

I love Foo dogs! They remind me of my grandmother, who was a big fan of chinoiserie and had several sets. My mom was a fan, too, and now I have two sets in my own house (one red-orange pair I picked up thrifting and a second larger pair I got from my mom). So yeah, I guess it's a family thing for me, but it does show they have some serious staying power!

  21. Scientific Housewife says:

To be honest, I had no idea that was what they were called! How interesting 🙂

  22. Risley says:

My uncle is an antique dealer.. I'm a foo dog fool! lol

  23. laurakelli says:

I passed up a chance at buying some turquoise foos at a shop in Shanghai while I still lived there. I've regretted it ever since and I'm afraid I'm going to want them until I can find them again.

  24. urbansardines says:

Happy New Year, Camila! Hope you had a great holiday! I LOVE the foo dogs still! I think it's past trend for me and into enduring love…

  25. Valerie says:

I too am fond of the Foo. I own several pairs, small to medium though.

  26. Kristen says:

good ol' jonathan adler says you should always buy a foo when you see it! 🙂

  27. Lauren says:

still love but will love them more when everyone else stops!! 😉

    xoxo

  28. thezhush says:

Love em, check out the cute little red ones that CB2 has, great price too.

  29. Michelle says:

men hate anything that doesn't feed them…LOL…I like them…with a great new paint job they could fit into lots of spaces. We are doing a different more defined eclectic these days, it seems…like everything, it's personal.

  30. Ginabee says:

STill LOVE!! 🙂 dont think i'll stop i just love the pop of color they bring to the room

  31. Keelin says:

If you have a Homegoods near you, I found them there! $30 and in multiple colors; white, teal, yellow, red!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

new-farrow-and-ball-paint-color-picks-for-my-house

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details.
