Highs & Lows of the week
So you already know that one of my low points this was heading back to the thrift store and finding my lamps missing.
Yesterday I decided to head out to another Thrift store that has everything 25% off on Thursdays. So happy I did, because high point of the week was picking up these following items:
This pillow reminded me of Jonathan Adler so in the cart it went. Normally I don’t pick up pillows at thrift stores, but it’s zippered so I can get a new pillow form for it and wash the cover! Only $6 bucks!
I wish there had been two of these guys below, but alas I only found one for $3. It just needs a new coat of spraypaint and it will be brand new!

Have no clue what I’m going to do with this mirror, but at $6.99 it also went in the cart. Perhaps a lucky client will get it!
Another completely random purchase were these curtain panels for $10. I don’t need them at the moment, but I loved all of the colors and know they will look great in a stylish gals apt. Now I just need a client to fit the bill!
3 lovely roomies will be enjoying my last thrift store find. These amazing bamboo chairs will be getting a coat of kelly green paint and moving on up to the Upper East Side.
Another high of the week was coming home later that day and packing for my trip.
But a huge LOW came this morning when we checked our flight on DELTA and saw that it had been CANCELLED, because of this:
I’m beyond upset. I was all set to fly into DC tonight and spend some time with Daniela and Lauren along with a detour to Baltimore to hit up De Bois and see Meg.
So sad!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Love all of your finds – makes me want to hit the thrift stores this weekend. Sorry about your trip.
I think spray painting the mirror white would look great! Congrats on some good finds. 🙂
Eddie Ross spray painted a similar inexpensive mirror for his home and it looks amazing.
You are way lucky to have scored that mirror for the price you did. They are really en-vogue right now. I tried to bring myself to buy one at an estate last weekend for $60. Couldn't do it.

Love the curtains! All those bright fun colors. And the mirror, I've seen some in a shamrock green room, they looked fab. Whoa on the snow! Good grief, I'm tired of the cold already.

Love your finds. Especially the bamboo chairs. I just picked up some off craigslist, I wanted to paint them a color, but I think I have to stick with white because the space is so small. Maybe I'll do my table a color.

So sorry to hear you couldn't go on your trip! But those are some great thrift store finds.
Question: How do you deal with pillows that come from the thrift store? Do you pop them in the wash? Spot clean them? I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so it creeps me out to buy something that someone with lice could have slept on :/

Aw, sorry your trip didn't work out. This has been the wackiest winter, even for those of us in the south! But your consolation prizes are nothing to laugh at. Those are some amazing deals you snapped up! Enjoy!
Bummer that you were not down for the weekend… it was actually a nice weekend here. I was at DeBois for about three hours on Saturday.
(But I was also in a very sad mood all weekend, so might not have been the best company.)
