Weekend Recap: Here comes the bride….

  1. megan says:

That is so sweet & fun to help your mom plan her renewal party! My parents actually celebrated their 30th anniversary a little over a year ago and I threw them a surprise party! They had no idea!

  2. Maria says:

Oh my gosh, I love everything about this!!! Its so incredibly sweet to renew and do it they way she's dreamed. I love picks #3 and #5, can't wait to see the big day!!

  3. Michelle says:

I hope she picked #3, the ruffle is AMAZING and looks unbelievable on her. Classic.

  4. Scientific Housewife says:

    I love #1, it's so elegant!

I had no problem using David's Bridal for my wedding because it was all I could afford. I was so happy that I got a dress for $450 that looked like it was $1000.

  5. sherry says:

I like #3….It was definitely the most flattering…looked like a Nicole Miller….. How fun!!!

  6. the cape on the corner says:

oh, how fun! love 3 and 5, bet you went with 5. it has the a line she liked, but was a more age appropriate option. so cute, love that they were all short, too.

  7. Daniela says:

    No Fanta bridesmaid pics? haha

  8. Jonesie says:

I loved dress #3 (#1 was nice too). Awww how sweet of you to do this for/with your mom. Have fun!

  9. bluehydrangea says:

So exciting!! Love dresses 3 and 5! Your mom is adorable!!

  10. Jeannine @ Small and Chic says:

    You touched on something…

I'm in love with a few wedding gowns that are in the $3000-$5000 range. I have caught myself rationalizing the ones that are closer to $3000, especially an amazing Priscilla of Boston gown that I know I'll try on when I'm officially engaged (it's coming!).

But then I think about opportunity cost. How much could be done with that money if I found a dress for $1000 or even less? I mean, I could realistically spend more, but I could also have a few more people at the wedding if I spent less or I could stash money away for a new home.

Just because you can afford to spend thousands, should you? I'm still trying to figure it out.

By the way, the last three dresses are stunningly beautiful. She's going to look gorgeous!

This Nov will be 8 years for us and I'm already thinking about a renewal wedding for 10 year anniv. What can I say I love to plan;)

  21. Maggie Rose says:

Aww your mom looks so pretty! I agree about the too-young one, but she'll look smashing in any of the others. Loved #1 and #3 best!

I've had a kind of snotty attitude about David's Bridal too, but last time I was in there for a bridesmaid dress fitting they had some really nice gowns. I guess they just have bad marketing campaigns because I wouldn't have guessed!

  22. LindsB says:

omg your mom is a KNOCKOUT in dress #3- love love love it! I hope thats the one, but to be honest she looks amazing in all of them!

She looks so happy!!! What beautiful women you are!

My fave is #3, but I'm a bit of a closet prep and love a 'popped collar'…and if it involves a ruffle *i die*

She'll be stunning in any of them!

Your mom looks amazing in all of these dresses. I only hope to look that good on my 30th wedding anniversary. Anyways, being a HUGE Audrey Hepburn fan I've got to say you're right about dress #5 having that vibe. It's a close race for me between it and #3.

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
