This transformation is unbelievable! I really love how they opened up the entire floor- the white paint and new floorplan make this home look HUGE! Also love that they made the fireplace such a beautiful focal point with stone. Thanks for sharing this lovely inspiration & the elephant pulls- those are pretty amazing!

I love all the white — it looks so fresh and crisp now! But I have to agree with Jon about the dock and the lake being the best part…it makes me want to go swimming. Have a lovely weekend!

  3. Appletree says:

  7. maria says:

Holy smokes, one of the best redo’s I’ve ever seen, simply stunning!!

  8. Amazing After! I love the white walls…it just opens the whole place up. I could definetly see myself here.

  9. Nikki says:

I love all the white space! We have wood paneling in our family beach house, but it doesn’t have grooves. I always want to paint it anyway, but it’s not my house!

  10. kelley says:

best before and after shots ever! My parents have a cabin, and by that i mean 70’s shag and faux wood paneling everywhere. not pretty but we spend all day outside! When it is 108 in Phoenix you must retreat to cooler land.

  11. diane says:

I am doing a very similar remodel for a client in Montana so this is great inspiration. She is hesitant to paint all the woodwork (as many people are) but these photos should help her visualize. I am with Jon, a cabin in the woods, by the lake or in the snow would be a wonderful getaway.

  12. Kate Collins says:

WOW! Jaw dropping. What a transformation. I would move to the catskills for that home.

  13. sherry hart says:

    Crikey…somebody has vision!!!

  14. hamptontoes says:

This is my kind of place! I was just in the catskills last weekend.

  15. Camila – Gorgeous redo! I ‘d be torn where to spend my time – in front of the fireplace or lounging on the dock. The Catskills are wonderful!

What an incredible renovation! What a difference the white makes! Love the elephant pulls as well!

  17. What a great AFTER for such a woody, blah BEFORE.

  18. Carol says:

We had the same view on a lake in northwest New Jersey, a small two bedroom ranch we bought on the spot 33 years ago because of that view, however it was our everyday house and we were lucky to be able to commute over an hour to our jobs to live there year round 30 years ago. It was idyllic; no motor boats, stocked with bass fish, underground spring fed, ducks, blue herons. Now we live by Lake Erie but it will never compare to that small secluded peaceful lake. I know she will be blissfully happy there!

  19. I have to pin every one of these after pics. Stunning.

I am borderline obsessed with “mountain modern” design, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this home!

    Thank you for sharing!

I have a place in the Catskills and I also have lots of knotty pine on the walls. My husband love it because it is from trees on the property.
Some day he’ll come home to find I’ve painted it.

  21. I love the white walls and dark wood floor! Our family has a cabin on Wellesley Island (Thousand Islands) and I wish wish wish they would let me do something to freshen the space like that! Soooo pretty!

The are a bit darker – but nothing a little spray paint couldn’t fix! 🙂

Amazing Sarah! Now I just need a cabin to redo so I can put them to good use. I have no where they would go in my current house. Totally bummer. Such an amazing price!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
