A while back I painted my kitchen floors and they got featured on Design Sponge! Someone made a comment that the room was coming off a bit too cold. I find the room to be really warm and inviting, but after some thinking I realized that adding a couple more layers would help warm the space up.
I was going back and forth on the idea of a rug in the kitchen and after seeing this picture:

I got even more excited about the idea and ordered a rug (plus another little thing or 2 that’s been on my must have list for months now!) for my own space:

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Can’t wait to see how it comes together. Isn’t it fun to start the new year with some new things for the house?
I love, love the inspiration image that you found! Those windows are pretty spectacular! As for your kitchen- love it. I think two of the warm & “glowy” pendants will be breathtaking and you are SO right about the rug- it will be AMAZING!

I never thought you kitchen was cold (?) … but I love your additions. Especially those lights … they’re so perfect. Can’t wait to see it all in place! 🙂
Nice choices on the rug and lights. I think it will look fabulous. I have only one suggestion. I love the painted crown molding in your inspiration picture. Have you thought of doing that in your kitchen the same color as the floor. I really think it would be the icing on the cake!

Camila, we love your kitchen ideas! We all know you love pops of color, what about trimming out your doors in an accent color from the rug to break up the white doors/walls/cabinets? Goodbye, cold!

Love the light and the windows in the inspiration room, but I think I like your rug choice even better! It will ground it and warm it up, but still keep the airy feel you seem to have :). And, those lights….SO pretty!

I love that inspiration photo, I too have it saved in my pile as we prep for springs arrival to tackle our own kitchen remodel. BUT I must say, while I love the idea of adding a rug, your kitchen looked lovely and warm girl! I remember seeing the post when you first published it and thinking “nice hustle”…but I do love area rugs in the kitch, I think they add a little dramatic and glam flair and I’m all about that!

I like your plans……definitely cozies up the room. I have to say, I felt a pang of jealousy when I saw your lucite stools–I came across them at a decor store up in Canada last week, and they were marked down to $59.00 each…..I’m still kicking myself for not walking away with them for my own kitchen! Love your kitchen! The floors look amazing, would never have thought to paint and to go with that color but it looks great! Where did you find the capiz lights? I want them! 🙂
