My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Yes, yes, yes!! Love it, you should do it!
Totally tempted. I have a big white sofa downstairs calling my name!
I love the look, but I would definitely have it sewn! I would hate to have the ribbon fall off or curl from constant friction.
I agree sewing is the way to go for durability. 🙂
I have the fretwork pillows on my to do list right now. I do the inset borders a lot on pillows but had not noticed it on so many sofas, love it !
Fabulous, bold and graphic…and I agree, sewn, not glued! Go for it!
do it and blog it please! im afraid id try it and it would come out awful!
Yes, you should definitely do it! I’m tempted to try myself…
i love the model couch you’re showing – where’s it from?! i want one!
It’s from http://www.clubfurniture.com. It’s not a $300 sofa, but it’s not as pricey as the sofa’s from Pottery Barn, etc.
What an awesome idea! It’s going in my inspiration file! Easy update, but tons of impact!
My vote is YES! go for it.
We love this idea. What a way to dress up your sofa. Also Melissa is in desperate need of a sofa. This slip cover is perfect do you have the source for it?Hope you do!Great post.
That’s right Melissa has a new pad! The sofa is available at http://www.clubfurniture.com. I ordered my sofa from them 3 years and I have no complaints.
have wanted to do this on my patio furniture cushions! patio furniture can be so BORING sometimes. think this would jazz it up but still be classic looking out in the front of my house.

We are so on the same wave length! I just posted about this fab couches last week! xo
I love that look and have been pondering (for months) doing that to the cushions on my outdoor furniture. I may have to do it for the summer!
love this look…brings a little interest to a monochromatic sofa or chair…or even an upholstered headboard…

This is a fantastic idea! I have had that Palmer Weiss image saved forever and what an accessible version this would be. Thanks!

Love a little ribbon or fabric trim on a sofa. Greek key would be fabulous too!

I adore these couches. They all look amazing! Great idea for a diy.
Oh dude, I love that so much, I really love that greens sofa.
what about Leather couches that are coming apart at the seems??
Oh good question. Let me do a little research and get back to you.
any suggestions for constructing the slipcovers themselves?
I personally don’t have anything. Sewing is not my thing. I leave all of that to my seamstress. The nester has a good guide that might be helpful:http://www.thenester.com/2010/03/how-to-make-slipcovers.html
What a beautiful idea!!! Where did the slipcovers come from? Thank you….
The Sofa’s & Pillows look amazing! My Sofa need’s all the help it can get. 🙂 I have used the No Sew Glue, on some embellishments that I glue down on the Blue Jean Purse’s I’ve made. But I do Sew the Purse it self. My son a Marine and he just sent me one of his BDU’s Uniform. { Desert Uniform }. So I’m excited to making a Purse out of the BDU.
