My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Put three ice cubes on the orchid once a week and it’s the perfect amount of water! Most people kill them by over watering. XOXO
I am filled with ENVY for your soon-to-be-PINK walls! Can’t wait to see them.
I cannot grow anything, except outside for some reason. I have invested in really expensive fake flowers and plants that I rotate by season and fool everyone!
Have I mentioned how much I want PINK walls?
I actually got an orchid as a hostess gift when I threw my valentine’s day party two weeks ago, they’re suprisingly low maintenance! (so far!)
The orchids at Whole Foods tempt me every time I shop. I’ve held out thus far because I tend to turn plants black, but maybe I’ll take the plunge! Yours is so pretty!
Sadly, I’ve murdered a few. But I do love them and yours is so pretty !
I’m not much of a gardener, but I am a bit of an orchid afficionado, and Whole Foods has the best orchids BY FAR. For instance- I bought a white orchid, just like yours, in the first week of December at Whole Foods for $25. It is STILL in full bloom! I water it every 10 days or so with about a 1/2 cup of water. And there you have it- one and only secret decor tip!
The orchids are so beautiful they look like a painting. Every time my husband is out of town I treat myself to fresh flowers, usually the $10.00 bunch you can get at the grocery store.
Generally I’ve got a pretty black thumb, so when I am looking for something to spruce things up I always come home with pillows or vases. Its easy to find both these items at stores like Ross or Goodwill and when you switch a few out the room looks new!
I would have to say flowers for me also, just bc thats all Im thinking about right now, your orchids are beautiful.. go luck with them!
Gorgeous photos of the orchids! I can never seem to keep mine alive, but I keep getting more and more for practice 🙂
I have a black thumb but am longing for an orchid myself! Love the tip above about using an ice cube to water. In response to your question…I’m loving succulents right now. They’re great for both indoors/outdoors and hardy (ie hard to kill). Looking forward to seeing your pink walls!!
your orchid looks lovely! for some reason, they always die in my hands. i thought they’re suppose to be pretty easy to take care of, but not in my house!
cheers,

I always keep an orchid in my family room. It is so easy to maintain. I have it in a pretty sunny spot, and I just water it on Fridays with about 1/2 cup to a cup of water.
Flowers for sure…especially rununculus in the spring, can’t wait!
Congrats on the pink walls! Flowers are great…used to do that more when I lived somewhere I could walk to Trader Joe’s multiple times a week. Sigh. 🙂 My latest little pick-me-up are some embroidered linen throw pillows I found on clearance at Meijer (a midwestern superstore that is kindof like a cross between Super Target and super walmart)…they will be just perfect with my other spring damask-y pillows on my family room couch :).
I got one of the orchids from Home Depot as well. Hopefully, I will be able to keep it alive for a while! I read a good quote the other day about fresh flowers. She said she thinks of them as good wine. She enjoys them and once they’re gone, she goes out and gets more.
Have a great day!
I’ve heard the ice cube thing to keep them alive, but what my mother in law swears by is a little bit of beer 🙂
